Family Disagree Over Bobbi Kristina’s Burial Plans, Slams Boyfriend With $10m Suit

Whitney Houston's cousin, Dionne Warwick, is threatening to boycott Bobbi Kristina Brown’s funeral because of a bitter disagreement over plans drawn up by Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Pat Houston.

And while the Brown and Houston families have strived to maintain a united front following Bobbi Kristina’s death last Sunday, Daily Mail Online reveals that the families are, in reality, riven by in-fighting over Pat Houston’s funeral plans, her attempts to solicit money in Bobbi Kristina’s name and what will become of Bobbi Kristina’s $20million inheritance.

According to one close source Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston's cousin, is the latest family member to be dragged into the fray.

Warwick, who oversaw Whitney’s funeral, strongly disapproves of Pat Houston’s management of Krissi’s 'sweet sixteen themed' funeral which is due to take place in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Saturday.

Speaking to Daily Mail Online the source said: ‘Dionne is planning a trip and threatening to not attend the funeral because Pat Houston is taking over even though she should be making decisions with Bobby and not doing it on her own.’

The source continued: ‘Dionne resents Pat acting like she is the head of the Houston family when in reality she married into the family. Also everyone knows that Bobbi Kristina and Pat didn’t get along well after her mother died because she was trying to run her life and tell her what to do with the money she inherited.

‘Pat wants to have a “sweet sixteen” theme funeral but Dionne feels that is stupid and disrespectful to Bobbi Kristina.’

Bobbi Kristina died on Sunday age 22 six months after she was found face down and unresponsive in the bath-tub of the Roswell, Georgia, home she shared with then boyfriend, Nick Gordon, 25.

Gordon is now a person of interest to investigators attempting to piece together the events that led to Bobbi Kristina’s untimely death.

Meanwhile the Houston family have slapped the man who once claimed to be married to Bobbi Kristina with a $10million law suit alleging that he abused her and stole her money while she was in a medically induced coma.

Ebola protection found

An Ebola vaccine provided 100-percent protection in a field trial in hard-hit Guinea, researchers and officials said Friday, mooting "the beginning of the end" of the killer West African outbreak.

The world is "on the verge of an effective Ebola vaccine," the World Health Organization (WHO) said, hailing the results from the first efficacy test of the VSV-ZEBOV vaccine among people living in a high-danger zone.

"This is an extremely promising development," added WHO chief Margaret Chan.

"An effective vaccine will be another very important tool for both current and future Ebola outbreaks."

About 28,000 people have been infected in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia in the worst Ebola outbreak in history, according to the WHO, and more than 11,000 have died.

VSV-ZEBOV may become the first licensed vaccine against the disease for which there is also no approved treatment or cure.

The trial showed that the vaccine "offers 100 percent protection against Ebola after roughly one week," said researcher Sven Trelle from the University of Bern.

The test, backed by drug firm Merck, the WHO and the governments of Canada, Norway and Guinea, saw 4,123 high-risk people vaccinated immediately after someone close to them fell ill with the deadly haemorrhagic fever.

None of the vaccinated group caught the virus, according to study results published in The Lancet medical journal.

I accompanied Toyin Saraki to the EFCC as a private investigator - Dino Melaye

Press Statement

Kogi West Senator in the National Assembly, Otunba Dino Melaye, has defended his recent visit to the Headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), when wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, honoured the invitation by the anti-graft agency.

The Chairman, Senate Adhoc Committee on Media and Publicity also challenged anybody who will controvert the truth that he has never done any government contract, either at the Local Government, State or Federal levels, to come foreward with evidence.

Melaye in a statement entitled: "Stand up for what you believe in regardless of the popularity or acceptance of your belief", and issued on Friday in Abuja, said he has I made sacrifices to the extent of escaping assignations.

He said, "I chose to react to the attacks I have received Sent from my iPad

"I was arrested 14 times in one year by the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan because I desire a country where my grandchildren (that I may never know) will dwell in a nation where life is already structured for them. I cannot throw away my sacrifice of being beaten and my clothes torn on the floor of the House of Representatives because of fighting against corruption. I have come too far to compromise my stand on corruption and corrupt persons.

"I make bold here to challenge anybody who will controvert the truth that I have never done any government contract, either at the Local Government, State or Federal levels. It is not criminal to do so, but he who must come to equity must come with clean hands. I have made sacrifices to the extent of escaping assignations. Will my fellow citizens forget all these too quickly on the altar of loyalty to friends, family and loved ones? My loyalty to friends is not only when the going is good. I will be there even when the roads are rough.

"The invitation of Mrs. Toyin Saraki by the EFCC, however, is not a criminal indictment. I will not abandon my friend because of mere EFCC invitation. I also went there as a private investigator and an anti-corruption crusader to find out the extent of culpability of my sister and friend since she was not told the content of the petition against her before her appearance before the EFCC.

"My definition for friendship is he or she who walks in when others are working out. If my father is invited by the EFCC, I will go there; if a prima face case is established against him, I will shout for his prosecution. So my great people, I have no regret following my friend and sister to the EFCC. If you are my friend, you are my friend. I cannot control what my friends will do, but they remain my friends. I am not fighting corruption out of passion only, but because it is the Godly thing to do.

"Finally, Winston Churchill said, "I may not believe in what you have to say, but I will defend to death, your right to say it." No change of values, in the next few months ahead, Nigerians will those who want President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed. I promise to be with the people at all times, within the constitutional milieu. I thank you for taking your time. Be a change agent! God bless you and bless Nigeria."

Anyone Who Loves Lagos Has No Business To Be In PDP- Olorogun Etti

Chief Babatunde Olorogun–Etti has called on Lagosians to join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari to make this nation great Buhari is a leader that can make things right in the country.

Speaking in Lagos Island shortly after defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olorogun-Etti also praised Senator Bola Tinubu for piloting the party along the path of greatness in Nigeria, particularly the South-West geo-political zone. He described him as a dynamic and brilliant politician.

“The development, growth and peaceful co-existence of the state should be paramount to us. APC is large enough to accommodate everybody. Senator Bola Tinubu has been fair to everybody no matter which divide of the state such a person comes from. Therefore, any citizen of Lagos State who loves this state, who believes he has a stake in the development of this state with a passion, has no reason to be in PDP,” he said.

He also spoke about PDP Lagos chapter saying the party is dead.

“It’s time to face facts: PDP is finished in Lagos State. PDP can no longer compete in any serious way in Lagos. The local government election in the state will be a formality,” he said.

Prophet Commits Suicide Inside Kirikiri Prison

A prophet, Destiny Onwudinjo, of Heaven Divine Ministry, in Shasha, a suburb of Lagos, western Nigeria, has committed suicide inside Kirikiri Prison. He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine for absconding from court to evade trial.

According to his co-inmates and neighbours, Onwudinjo died recently in prison custody due to frustration. P.M.News gathered that he was so dejected about his conviction and jail term that he decided to terminate his life inside the prison.

He reportedly hit his head several times on the prison wall and his head broke. He later fell down and bled profusely.

The other inmates with him inside the cell raised the alarm and contacted prison officials who took him to their hospital where he eventually died because of the injuries he sustained.

Presiding Magistrate P.E. Nwaka of Ejigbo Court had jailed Onwudinjo after he pleaded guilty to his attempt to escape from court during trial.

Onwudinjo caused a stir at the court when he suddenly jumped from the dock and ran out of the court where he was facing criminal charge of fraud and assault.

The prosecutor, Mr Femi Adeleye, and some of the court officials ran after him and re-arrested him along the street of Lagos.

His attempt to escape disrupted the court’s proceedings as the litigants rushed out of the court due to the rowdiness that ensued.

Onwudinjo was brought to the court by the police at Shasha division for brutalizing an okada rider, Chika Izuogu for refusing to pay him N120,000 for deliverance prayer.

Onwudinjo and Izuogu clashed at Olukosi Street, Shasha, Lagos where both of them reside.

According to Izuogu, Onwudinjo told him that he had a revelation from God that he needed to embark on seven days deliverance prayer so that his condition would improve for the better.

He said the Enugu State-born Onwudinjo explained to him that the money he asked him to pay covered the fasting and other spiritual materials he would use for the deliverance.

To convince Izuogu that the prayer will work after seven days, he told him that he will receive a divine blessing from God as an unknown person will give him N3 million he would use to start a new life and become rich.

Abia State-born Izuogu who seemed to be convinced told Onwudinjo that he would do the fasting by himself because he had no N120,000 to give him for the deliverance.

This caused a disagreement between them and in the process, Onwudinjo allegedly beat up Izuogu and injured him.

Onwudinjo was arrested and arraigned in court where he attempted to escape before he was re-arrested and remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri.

The court also directed the prosecutor to prepare another contempt charge against him for escaping from the court.

When the prosecutor arraigned him, he pleaded guilty of trying to escape from court and assaulting Izuogu before the court.

He was sentenced accordingly and remanded in prison where he eventually took his life.

When a PM News reporter contacted the prison officials at Kirikiri, they declined to make comment concerning the matter.

A source at the prison confirmed the incident and said the officials have written a report on  Onwudinjo’s death.

Buhari Still On 'Honeymoon' - Tinubu

One of APC’s national leaders, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has said it is a norm all over the world for a newly elected president to take at least 100 days for honeymoon so he can strategize on ways of tackling the nation’s problems.

Tinubu said this today when he visited the president in Aso Rock. He told State correspondents that the change they promised the citizens of Nigeria will be achieved, but they need to give the President time to ‘think’. Hear him;

“It is an international norm all over the world; there is a honeymoon period, at least minimum of 100 days honeymoon.

“Or you won’t allow honeymoon at all? You said change is not coming. Change is not by magic, it is driven by the people, the spirit and the character and the planning.

“You see, we have had so much problem in this country in the past because we ran into policy blind folded without adequate and effective planning. You don’t have results unless you plan well.

“The time it takes you to plan, examine, rejig, re-evaluate is more important than the time you just rush into taking action because you are either being sentimental, being emotional and being driven by other forces that are not expected. There must be time to plan, to review and even listen to people.”

“Even in 100 meters race, there is a time to say on your mark, set, ready, go.

“So you don’t even want a time to be on your mark, set and go?,” queried the former Governor.

Ibori’s brother-in-law sentenced to two and a half years in the UK for money laundering

Rowland Nakanda, a brother-in-law to former Delta State governor James Ibori has been sentenced to a UK prison for his involvement in money laundering.

London Metropolitan reports below...

Nakanda had previously been found guilty of two counts of money laundering following a month-long trial at Southwark Crown Court and was sentenced on Friday, 24 July.

The investigation into Nakanda commenced during the wider inquiry into the corrupt activities of the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, between 1999 and 2007.

Nakanda, 54, of Tyne Gardens, South Ockendon in Essex is the older brother of Teresa Ibori, James Ibori’s wife. James and Teresa Ibori were convicted of fraud and money laundering in 2012 and were sentenced to a total of 18 years’ imprisonment for corruption.

Following the conviction of the Iboris, the Nakandas became guardians of the Ibori’s three children. Police identified that the Ibori children, despite their parents’ convictions, were being educated at a private school and it was established that Nakanda had continued to pay the considerable school fees.

Enquiries revealed that he had paid the fees to the school’s bank account in cash over the counter through his local Lloyd’s bank in Grays, Essex. CCTV revealed that on one day alone, Nakanda paid over £15,000 in cash for the school fees of two of the children.

A financial investigation was able to trace £350,000 in unexplained cash deposits going through Nakanda’s accounts following the convictions of the Iboris. The investigation was undertaken by the Met’s Proceeds of Corruption Unit, which has now transferred to the National Crime Agency (NCA) to become the International Corruption Unit.

Rupert Broad, formerly a Detective Inspector in the Met’s Proceeds of Corruption Unit, said: “Rowland Nakanda previously worked for the Royal Mail and lived a modest lifestyle with his wife in Essex.

I am pleased that we were able to demonstrate that Nakanda knew that the money he was dealing with was the proceeds of criminal conduct and had originated from James Ibori’s corrupt activity during his governorship of Delta State. This sentence should act as a warning that we will go after everyone involved in fraudulent activity, however complex and wide-reaching the fraud."

A total of nine individuals have now been convicted of money laundering offences in linked cases, and have received sentences totalling over 50 years.

Nakanda was acquitted of cheating the Revenue. Rowland Nakanda’s wife, Chifu Nakanda, was acquitted of all charges.

FAAN denies stopping Patience Jonathan from using VIPs Lounge at PortHarcourt Airport

The convoy carrying the wife of the former President, Dame Patience Jonathan, was stopped from taking her to the foot of the aircraft on the tarmac of the Port Harcourt International Airport, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has said.

The former First Lady was reportedly stopped from using the VIP lounge of the airport. But the FAAN said it was not so. It was learnt that Dame Jonathan had gone to Port Harcourt on a private visit.

Sources at the airport also alleged that the former First Lady was denied access to the lounge by security operatives of FAAN, who reportedly said they were working based on orders from “above.”

But reacting to the report, FAAN, in a statement on Tuesday, described it as misleading and mischievous, stressing that the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan was not denied access to “the VIP lounge at the Port Harcourt International Airport on July 27, 2015.”

However, the authority was quick to state that what its security officials did was to stop the former First Lady’s convoy from gaining access to the tarmac where her aircraft was parked.

The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Yakubu Dati, said the security officials explained to Dame Jonathan’s team why her convoy was stopped, adding that the officials were only abiding by international safety standards.

FAAN said, “The former First Lady’s convoy was only denied access to the foot of the aircraft during boarding formalities at the airport in line with international aviation best practices, strictly for safety reasons, as prescribed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Our security officials explained this fact to details of the former First Lady.

“We wish to recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan, in his recent trips from the same airport, had had to walk to the aircraft from the protocol lounge, in recognition of this ICAO regulation.”

FAAN went on to explain that family members of former Presidents were officially entitled to use the VIP lounge, adding that Dame Jonathan would not be denied that right.

It said, “We wish to state that no such thing happened as Dame Jonathan, like other family members of former Presidents and other designated principal officers of government, are officially entitled to the usage of airport VIP and protocol lounges under the management of FAAN.”
