Girl Narrates How She Was Forced Into Cultism, Raped By 20 Men At Initiation

Hell was let loose, last week, in Oto-Owori area, Ijanikin, Lagos State, after a 16-year-old member of the famous Abogun family, made startling confessions about how she was initiated into cultism and lesbianism by the younger sister of her uncle’s wife. Parents of the victim who were shocked by the confession reportedly alerted the police after she was caught while attempting to sneak out of the house with some items demanded by her cult members.

Revelations

According to the victim (names withheld), who completed her secondary education in June, “it was Tope who introduced me into lesbianism and cultism early last year. On Friday, at about 7-8pm, I received a call from Tope that I should bring my red jacket, which is the cult uniform and a jack-knife for her. While I was attempting to sneak out of the house to meet her, I was accosted by my brothers who checked the bag I was carrying and found the cult jacket and the jack-knife. They called on my parents who demanded to know how I got those items.

Becoming lesbian partner

“Initially, she forced me into becoming her lesbian partner. She threatened me that if I failed to do it, my life was at stake. When I became her lover, we took a blood oath as Tope used a blade to cut my hand and licked the blood. She also cut her hand and asked me to lick the blood. She threatened that she must not see me with anyone, whether male or female but she was free to go out with others as she has other lovers. I have been her lover for over a year now and I became her lover before I completed my secondary education.

“After Tope introduced me to lesbianism, she forced me into their cult. The night I was initiated into Aiye cult, I was blindfolded. Members of the cult gave me a gun to take an oath, declaring that I would not reveal anything about the cult to anyone. They said if I ever revealed anything about the cult to anyone, the same gun that I used to take the oath would be used to take my life. Thereafter, about twenty of the males present at the initiation slept with me one after the other.

Strange gun appears

“Two months ago, I stole my father’s N50, 000 and gave to her. There was a time she gave me a gun to keep for her. I kept the gun in my book-shelf two days. She gave the gun to me because she said she couldn’t take it home. Later, she collected it and gave it to a member of the cult. I really don’t know what they use the weapon for. The red jacket which is the cult uniform was given to me by Segun. He is the leader of the Aiye cult. Since I became a member, I haven’t been able to go anywhere with them because of how difficult it is for me to leave home as my parents don’t allow me out after 6pm, and most of their activities are usually in the night. There was a time they asked me to trail my elder brother because they said he is arrogant.”

Shooting at birthday party

In her defence, 18-year-old Tope (surname withheld) who initially confessed that she gave the gun to Kemi to keep because she could not take it home, later denied the allegation that she is a cultist.
According to her, “I have known Kemi from my childhood. I am a salesgirl. I was arrested because the victim said I introduced her into cultism and lesbianism but I am not a cultist, and she didn’t give me money.

“I have not seen Kemi for more than a month now, since my birthday which I celebrated on June 21. Although they fired a gun at my birthday party, I don’t know who fired the gunshot but Samuel was with a gun that night, and I know that Samuel is a cultist and he attended my birthday party. It was a cult guy called Daddy that threatened that if I refuse to join their cult, he will deal with me and shoot me in the legs with a gun.”

Recruiting young girls as armourers

Crime Alert gathered that young girls were recruited into the cult group as they are used as armourers who keep the ammunitions for them any time they go for operation. It was learned that based on the revelations, the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ijanikin Division of Lagos State, SP Robinson Eregare, swung into action and succeeded in clamping down on all the suspected cultists connected with the victim’s initiation. Among those arrested were Musa Kareem, Austine Ebosoje and ten others.

Police reacts

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu said Temitope Famati, an 18-year-old lesbian, Ogunsan Kemi , another 20-year-old lesbian, Oseni Lukman, 30; Chidi Okafor, 25; Musa Kareem, 26; Austine Ebozoje, a 19- year-old pirate, Segun Sowumi, Olatokunbo Babatunde, 18; Gbelebu Samuel, 17 and Hussan Azeez, 30, were among the cultists arrested so far.

Onyeka Onwenu’s Aide Lands In Prison Over N17m Bribe

One of Nigeria’s foremost celebrities, Onyeka Onwenu, has been accused of demanding and collecting kickbacks through her personal assistant, Chika Abazu, from a contractor employed to carry out renovation works at the National Centre for Women Development [NCWD], where she is director general.

The accusation was levelled by Joseph Nwakama, an architect with Solidmark Associates Limited, the company employed by the Centre to carry out the renovation of its guest house.

However, although it was established by investigators from the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, that Mr. Abazu indeed demanded and received a total of N17 million bribe from the contractor, no direct evidence has so far linked Ms. Onwenu to the offence.

So, it was Mr. Abazu who was on July 10 arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory High Court on a six-count charge of bribery and gratification.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges but was denied bail and ordered remanded in the Federal Prisons, Kuje, until the case is dispensed with.

The presiding judge, Justice Chukwu Ndukwe, adjourned the case till September 28 for trial to commence.

Although investigators could not directly link Ms. Onwenu to bribetaking, documents obtained by the icirnigeria.org revealed so many wrongdoings by the Centre’s management under her watch, including funding the Solidmark contract with money taken from a Women Empowerment Programme in Zamfara State and spending more than was budgeted for the project. That is apart from paying the contractor even before he was officially awarded the contract.

Lagos Fire Service Rescues Man Who Used Erection Ring On His Penis

The men of the Lagos State Fire Service said on Saturday that they rescued a 40-year-old man from death after he used a sex performance enhancer that enlarged his penis beyond expectation.

The Director, Mr Rasak Fadipe, who made the disclosure to NAN in Lagos, said the man wore a metal ring on his penis.

The ring, according to him, was to enhance erection and ultimately enhance sexual satisfaction but turned out to swell the organ beyond his expectation.

“When it became apparent that the condition was threatening his life, he rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja for help.

“The hospital invited the service to rescue the man, when they could not easily remove the ring.

“We successfully removed the metal ring in collaboration with the hospital staff at the emergency unit using our rescue tools,” he told NAN.

“The incident happened at about 3.15 p.m. on Friday and it took us about 50 minutes for the operation.

“The man wore the ring to enhance his penis for sexual satisfaction, but it turned out to be a threat to his life,” Fadipe said.

Osun got N204bn in four years not N317bn, says Aregbesola

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbsola, on Friday insisted that his administration got N204bn from the Federation Accounts and Internally Generated Revenue since the inception of his administration to the end of 2014.

The governor stated this in reaction to a claim by a former Head of Service in the state, Mr. Segun Akinwusi, over the revenue status of the state.

Adewusi, who contested the governorship election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party in 2014, had said in a speech he delivered at the summit organised by the Osun Stakeholders that the state got N317bn in four years.

But in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, the governor’s media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said, “Segun Akinwusi is inconsistent and that is highly nauseating considering the fact that he rose to become the Head of Service of Osun State.

“In May, he raised a false alarm that Aregbesola should account for N846bn he had collected as allocation in the last four years.

“The same Akinwusi said Aregbesola had collected N317bn in four years. Which one does he want Nigerians to believe?

“The facts that are verifiable state that Osun got from the Federation Account N177bn and when you add the unprecedented about N27bn IGR in the same period to that, you get the N204bn.”

Meanwhile, the governor said Osun State still remained investors-friendly despite attempts by the opponents to speak ill of his administration.

The Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, disclosed the position of the governor while opening the 42nd edition of the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria which commenced in Osogbo on Friday.

He said, “You have come to Osun State and you can see for yourselves whether the impression of a famine-gripped state painted by our political opponents are reflected in the faces of the accommodating people you see around.

“The economic challenge of Nigeria must be seen for what it is: a general crisis for which a state or a governor cannot be picked as the scapegoat. Unfortunately, that has remained the agenda of those who feel it is possible to destroy the efforts that had in recent years advertised our state as a pride of the Black race.”

Ex-militant leaders’ meeting unnecessary –Orubebe, activist

A former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godsday Orubebe, on Friday described the meeting of ex-militants called by the leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, as irrelevant.

Orubebe, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said, “I do not see the need for such meeting, especially when the Boko Haram sect is still bombing.

“Although the meeting planned to review activities in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, I found it unnecessary.”

Also, an Asaba-based rights activist, Mrs. Bridget Ayanfulu, said the meeting was called to instigate violence because those behind the meeting did not have access to Buhari as they did to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Ayanfulu, however, said Tompolo must be checked.

She said, “Tompolo has to watch his utterances and stop secret meetings.”

Dickson cancels ex-militants’ meeting as MEND dumps Tompolo

Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, on Friday cancelled the proposed meeting of ex-militant leaders in the Niger Delta called by the leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo.

The meeting was earlier scheduled for Saturday (today) in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

But Dickson, in a statement on Friday by his media aide, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said that the governor would meet with the ex-militants in no distant time.

The governor said he would discuss with the ex-militant leaders issues that affected them and the nation as a whole.

He, therefore, called for the understanding and cooperation of all concerned.

A source, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said many former militants had expressed interest in the meeting called by Dickson.

Tompolo had summoned leaders of the various wings of the militant group to an emergency meeting in Yenagoa on Saturday.

Though, he did not state the agenda of the meeting, Tompolo said the gathering was important.

He had said, “My dearly beloved commanders and leaders of various wings of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, I greet you all. It is my pleasure to humbly invite you to a very crucial and urgent meeting.”

Bur MEND dissociated itself from the purported meeting.

MEND, in a statement by its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, described the planned meeting as an assembly of dubious contractors and disgruntled elements.

It said those calling for the meeting were reacting on behalf of oil thieves and corrupt public officials.

The group, however, restated its support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to probe the immediate past administration.

Similarly, a group under the aegis of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators called on its 12,000 members and others to shun Tompolo’s meeting.

The NCNDE President, Israel Akpodoro, told one of our correspondents in Abuja that the meeting is laced with mischief and bad intentions.

He said, “That meeting was convened by ex-militants loyal to some senior citizens in the previous administration. Although all the ‘Commanders’ and ‘Generals’ were invited, we are not party to that because the meeting is to instigate crisis. I have therefore directed my 12,000 members to shun the meeting.

“If the meeting is for good, I don’t have any problem with it, but I have come to realise that the meeting has mischievous intentions to cause trouble for the present government. I advise my members and other ex-Niger Delta agitators not to attend the meeting in their own interest.

Don’t intimidate us with EFCC, PDP senators warn FG

Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have warned the Federal Government against using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to intimidate them, vowing to resist such attempt.

They asked President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that some people do not use his name to misuse state machinery in fighting their perceived political opponents in the guise of waging anti-corruption war.

A statement on Friday by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, on behalf of PDP Like Mind Senators, said any attempt to unleash the anti-graft agencies on members of the National Assembly as a result of the leadership crisis rocking the legislative chamber would not only be constitutionally and lawfully resisted, but could have dire consequences on governance in the country.

The statement read, “As much as we are not against the anti-corruption agencies performing their statutory duties, the invitation by EFCC to the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, clearly indicated that the threat by a group within the National Assembly to use all means to fight the National Assembly leadership is now being carried out.

“Nigerians should ask the EFCC what it was waiting for all this while before realising that it would need to invite Mrs. Saraki when she left the Government House with her husband in 2011. And why should the invitation come a few days after a senator threatened that his group would bring the senate president down?

“We also think that the same witch-hunt that the wife of the senate president is suffering now is the same thing happening to his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who the police have been disturbing. But at the right time, we will jointly make our opinion known on the harassment of our leaders.”

The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Friday said the invitation of Mrs. Toyin Saraki, wife of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was politically motivated.

But during a media briefing in Ilorin after the state APC’s executive meeting, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani, described the EFCC’s invitation as a calculated attempt to dent the image of the senate president and his wife.

He cautioned EFCC to avoid being used for political vendetta.

Balogun-Fulani said, “The EFCC’s invitation of Mrs. Saraki was a shock to the APC in Kwara State because five years after her husband left office as the governor, the anti-graft agency thought it wise to invite his wife for questioning.”

Delta didn’t receive N70m bailout – Okowa

DELTA State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday, said the state government did not receive a bailout of N70million from the Federal Government as reported by the media.

The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ehiedu Aniagwu, also told reporters that it was not true that the state government dissolved the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.

His words, “From the onset, let us make it clear that no N70 billion under any guise whether allocation, bailout or grants was released to the state.”

“You recall that when the governor briefed the House of Assembly, he made it clear that the debt burden of the state was huge and beyond the contractual obligations, the commercial debts to banks and the repayment conditionality were quite strangulating.

“As a proactive administration, the government sought ways to alleviate the burdens so as to deliver on its promise of prosperity to all Deltans.
“One of the ingenious ways the government considered was to explore the option of the Federal Government bond.

“What this meant was that the state liaised with the Debt Management Office to take over the commercial loans and restructure them to Federal Government bonds giving the state a long repayment period without increasing the debt burden of the state.’’
