Buhari is Creating A Big Office for Fashola in Aso Rock

The fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is very comfortable in working with Babatunde Fashola who is the immediate past governor of Lagos State is not in doubt. He loves his level of competence.

In fact, a source in Abuja told OluFamous.Com that if Fashola was a Christain, he would have been the vice president now because he was Buhari's preferred candidate, but was dropped on religious ground.

But as the jostling for cabinet posts in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration intensifies, there are indications that Fashola has been shortlisted for a big position by Buhari.

Others who will work very closely with President Buhari are former Head of Service, Mr. Steve Oronsaye; a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Abdulrahman Dambazzau; a former MD of New Nigerian Newspapers, Adamu Adamu, and a former Military Administrator of Kaduna State, Col. Hammed Ali.

Specifically, Dambazzau is being considered for the post of National Security Adviser (NSA) while Fashola, Oronsaye and Ali are being considered for the position of Chief of Staff to the president.

In addition to the Chief of Staff, Fashola will be made to monitor some key institutions and agencies.

Adamu, on the other hand, may emerge Principal Secretary to the President. He is also being considered for the post of Chairman of EFCC, but has expressed reservations about heading the Agency.

A frontline contender for the post of Chief of Staff is Fashola, whom Buhari personally likes and has a lot of confidence in. The president has already shown his confidence in Fashola by asking him to chair a committee he empanelled to review the 800-page report submitted by Ahmed Joda Committee.

Oronsaye, however, was recommended to Buhari by President Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo is banking on Oronsaye because of his wealth of experience in the public sector and presidency affairs.

For the post of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Oronsaye, who is from the South-south zone is also a top contender, while former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, are also up for consideration.

Amaechi, who is also from the South-south, said the presidency source, is viewed as a taskmaster but not a bureaucrat, while Onu from the South-east is well-liked because of his calmness and loyalty. But the emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President has affected his chances.

The post of SGF was initially zoned to the South-east by the ruling party, but may now be rezoned to the South-South following the outcome of the leadership elections in the National Assembly.

Amaechi may likely take to office of SGF, all things being equal.

Girl who wanted to pay a man to marry her has been taken to Psychiatric Hospital

The lady who offered House and a Car for marriage, Zainab Abdulmalik, has been admitted at the Dawanau Psychiatric Hospital, Daily Trust learnt from her family and hospital sources.

A true Yoruba family can't allow their daughter engage in such shameful act, I know this would happen.

Zainab who lured hundreds of youth with a car and house offer last Wednesday was admitted on Sunday at the hospital as her family believes she is "mad" to have become so desperate for husband.

Last week Tuesday, she announced on a local radio station, her intention to offer a gift of car to any man who would marry her after her boyfriend ate her money and dumped her.

In an interview, the head of the hospital, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim confirmed the admission of the lady, saying she has been their patient for long. He told Daily Trust, “Yes she is on admission in our hospital but this is not the first time she would be brought here. She has been an outpatient for long but she was brought here at the weekend.”

One of her relatives said she was rushed to the hospital because her mental challenge worsened after she had picked one of the suitors that thronged to the freedom radio to marry her.

“She was stable until when she was betrayed by somebody who promised to marry her after collecting money from her last year. Since then she developed mental problem and she has been on and off at the psychiatric hospital.

“Her condition relapsed at the weekend that was why she was taken to the hospital. If you go there now, you will see her because she is on admission,” he said.

It was gathered from one of her neighbours in Ayagi area of Kano State that the person that jilted her has been sued to court. “The guy’s parents live in Gandun Albasa area of Kano. When he was taken to court, he promise to be paying N50,000 monthly to refund her money,” he said.

He added that “we grew up with her and she was not having mental challenge until when the guy betrayed her. I used to be accompanying her to the guy’s parents' house,” Jazuli Rabiu said.

When Daily Trusted contacted him on phone for his reaction, her father hissed and put off his phone.

Sometimes it can be morally necessary for parents to separate - Pope Francis

Pope Francis says it may be “morally necessary” for some troubled families to split up so that the weaker partner or the children can be protected. He said this today June 24th while addressing Catholic faithfuls ahead of a global meeting on family life in October. He said;
“There are cases in which separation is inevitable. Sometimes, it can even be morally necessary, when it’s about shielding the weaker spouse or young children from the more serious wounds caused by intimidation and violence, humiliation and exploitation”
He went on to say that after separations, it is important that the couple is counseled so that the 'child does not become daddy or mummy’s hostage”. He noted that there are many families with 'irregular situations' in the world.

Mysterious Islamic tribe where women have multiple sexual partners, don't wear veil & own the property

Behind the ancient way of life for the Tuareg tribe of the Sahara is a culture so progressive it would even make some in liberal western cultures blush. Women are allowed to have multiple sexual partners outside of marriage, keep all their property on divorce and are so revered by their sons-in-laws that the young men wouldn't dare eat in the same room.

What is even more surprising is that even though the tribe has embraced Islam they have firmly held onto some of the customs that would not be acceptable to the wider Muslim world. It is the men, and not the women, who cover their faces, for example.

Photographer Henrietta Butler, who has been fascinated by the Tuareg since she first followed them through the desert in 2001, once asked why this was. The explanation was simple.

'The women are beautiful. We would like to see their faces.'

But this is certainly not the only place the Tuareg, related to the Berbers of North Africa, differ from the Muslim world of the Middle East, and even other parts of their own continent.

Before a woman marries, she is free to take as many lovers as she wants.
'They turn a blind eye,' explained Butler. 'The young girls have the same great freedoms as the boys.'

For years, the men of the Tuareg have been able to ride to a young woman's tent, and sneak into the side entrance - while his well-trained camel stands quietly and waits.
There, they will spend the night together - while the family, who all live in the tent, politely pretend not to notice.

Should the woman choose to welcome a different man into her tent the next day, so be it.
However, there is also a code of practice which none would dare break. Privacy is all important for this centuries old tribe of nomads, who once crossed the desert bringing dates, salt and saffron south, and slaves and gold north.
The idea of breaking the rules of courtship would be mortifying; as a result, the man is always gone before sunrise.
'The Tuareg are utterly discreet. Everything is done with utmost discretion and respect,' said Butler.

The relaxed customs around sexual partners has resulted in the girls getting married later than they may otherwise do, with the age of 20 not being uncommon.
Although, before then, they will have been wooed with poetry written by the men, who spend hours carefully crafting the words which they hope will win their beloved over.

But it is not a one-way street: the women are just as capable of putting pen to paper, using their own alphabet, taught to them by their mothers.
'The women also make poetry eulogising the men,' says Butler. 'There is high romance and idolatry.'

Unlike in so many other cultures, women lose none of their power once they marry either.

Any visitor who goes to a camp would be vastly underestimating the power of the women in the tent if they believe their sole duty is to make the food and look after children.
In fact, she owns the home and the animals. And the animals are an invaluable resource to the Tuareg in the middle of the Sahara.

Journalist Peter Gwin recalled an elderly nomad once telling him: 'Animals are everything to a Tuareg. We drink their milk, we eat their meat, we use their skin, we trade them. When the animals die, the Tuareg dies.'

Many marriages end in divorce among the Tuareg. And when it happens, it is the wife who keeps both the animals and the tent. And it is she who normally decides that she’s had enough.

It is the men who cover up their faces, while the women are happy to show off their faces - although they often cover their hair
The Tuareg women, seen here arriving at the Tuareg Political Party speech in 2006, may not obviously be part of political life, but their opinion is highly valued by the men, who will likely discuss issues with their mother or wife.

It is unlikely there will be any quibbling over who gets what. Pre-nuptial agreements are the norm.
In practice, this often means a man is forced to return home to his mother, possibly with just his camel and nothing else.
His wife, meanwhile, will keep possession of everything she brought to the marriage and that includes the children.

The mother's camp, Butler explains, is the root of the community, the home everyone returns to - and this arrangement ensures it stays that way.
And there is no shame in divorce. Families will often throw their daughters a divorce party, to let other men know they are available once more.

But this is not a matriarchal society, where the women are in charge.
Butler explains it is still the men 'who sit and talk politics'. But even here, the women can be deferred to. They are often consulted for their views by their sons or husbands, and are quietly pulling the strings behind the scenes.

However, Tuareg society is matri-lineal, which means the families trace their lines through the women, rather than the men, right the way back to their first queen.
So, Butler explained: 'Traditionally, the man would belong to the woman's group, rather than the other way around.'
The preference for the women's line goes as far as man leaving his possessions to his sister's son as it 'is considered a stronger link to your family than to your own son'.
In other words, it can be guaranteed that your sister's child belongs to your sister, rather than a man's son, who cannot be absolutely guaranteed to share his genes.
But there is one tradition which is certainly far more unusual: it is highly rude for a man to eat in front of a woman who he cannot have sexual relations with, or any of his elders.
In front of his mother-in-law it is especially shameful.
'I didn't realise this until the I was having dinner with a Tuareg woman, who had brought her son-in-law as her travelling companion,' Butler recalled.
'We were all sitting down to dinner, and the man has his back turned. She said the poor man was completely horrified because he has to eat with his mother-in-law.'
But it is unlikely he would have ever complained about it, or felt sorry from himself. The very idea is horrendous to the Tuareg.
'You would shame yourself. The Tuareg will go to great lengths to maintain personal dignity. They will suffer,' said Butler.
'If they are not offered water, they won't ask for it - even if they are thirsty.'
Perhaps for this reason, the Tuareg welcome is legendary. They never forget to offer water, and travellers who appear on the horizon will always be 'treated like a king'.

SHOCKER: Senators allowances 9 times higher than basic pay

Nigerians who expressed surprise that each senator receives N506,600 per annum as wardrobe allowance may be in for a shocker as the lawmakers receive far more allowances under different categories.

Investigation showed that senator's allowances totaled N18,642,880 (18million +) on annual basis. In all, the allowance each senator receives is nine times more than his annual salary.

A senator’s salary is pegged at N2,026,400 per annum.

But Senators and House of Reps members are entitled to 19 different allowances.

According to PUNCH, these allowances are for vehicle maintenance and fuelling; domestic staff, entertainment, utilities, personal assistant, constituency, wardrobe, house maintenance, newspapers, recess, accommodation, furniture, severance, tour duty, estacode, special assistant, security, legislative aide and medical.

These allowances are specified in the Remuneration Package for Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders prepared by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

On an annual basis, the 107 senators receive N1,994,788,160 as allowances. Only 107 senators are eligible for these allowances. The President of the Senate and Deputy President of the Senate receive fewer allowances because most of their needs are fully provided for by the state.

For members of the House, the annual allowances payable are about eight times higher than their pay.

While the annual salary of a House member is pegged at N1,985,212.50, the annual allowances add up to N15,286,135.25. This means that the 358 members of the House (excluding the speaker and the deputy speaker) get N5,472,436,419.5 annually in allowances.

The allowances, however, are in categories. Some are tagged regular while others are tagged irregular allowances.

Regular allowances are those that are paid on monthly basis along with the monthly salaries while irregular allowances are paid at other intervals, ranging from annual to once in four years.

There are also other allowances not included in this calculation that are paid not at any fixed periods but as many times as they occur in the year.

The allowances are calculated as percentages of the annual salaries. While some are higher than the annual salaries, others are lower.

Basically, both senators and Reps are paid the same percentages of their salaries as allowances, except the constituency allowance where senators are paid 250 per cent while Reps get 100 per cent of their annual salaries.

The irregular allowances include housing allowance, 200 per cent of the Reps annual salaries; furniture allowance, 300 per cent; recess allowance, 10 per cent and severance allowance, 300 per cent.

REVEALED: Akpabio Is Still Living Inside Government House

This was what Peter Odili also did with Celestine Omehia in Rivers State, while he was still occupying the best bedroom in the then new Government House as the godfather until Supreme Court ruled that Rotimi Amaechi was the governor and he had to run out of the government house in a hurry.

Sadly, sources say the same impunity is playing out in Akwa State today where Godswill Akpabio who sees himself as the new godfather has refused to vacate the new government house.

He and his wife are said to be arrogantly occupying the palatial Presidential Wing of Akwa Ibom Government House where they have been ordering the sitting PDP Governor around anyhow.

Sources in the state said Akpabio is also using the state's private jet exclusively as if it belongs to him.

Ladies, what is this again o?

This crazy competition by some ladies to become equal with men at all cost is something else. So, standing to pass urine is now the next phase of the equality battle? Hian! Ok oo!!

Arase who made this known on Tuesday disclosed that in addition to over 300 patrol vehicles deployed to the roads, another 157 highway patrol vehicles are ready for deployment on the roads.

The police boss who submitted that the police would need the prompt collaboration of the public in order to have an upper hand over crimes and criminality, however, affirmed that the Nigerian military could still be called upon to assist in security whenever the need arises.

APC Senators in free-for-all fight over Senate leadership posts

Efforts made by the 59 senators of the APC in the Senate to resolve the lingering crisis over the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as President of the 8th Senate, has ended in fiasco as some of the senators engaged each other in physical fight.

Disagreement between the two camps which led to verbal outbursts and exchange of blows between senators was sparked off when the senators belonging to the Like Minds and Unity Forum groups failed to reach middle ground on the procedure for the emergence of a candidate for the various leadership positions.

While the Saraki-led Like Minds Senators at the meeting insisted that the candidates for the various positions be zoned and the candidates produced at the caucus level, the Ahmad Lawan group under the aegis of Unity Forum disagreed.

The Like Minds group had already penciled down Senators Ali Ndume ( APC Borno South) for the position of Senate Leader, Sani Yerima ( APC Zamfara West) for Deputy Leaders position, Shola Adeyeye (Osun Central) as Chief Whip and Francis Alimikhena (Edo North) as Deputy Chief Whip.

The Unity Forum senators, on the contrary, insisted that all vacant positions be filled by the national leadership of the party.

But the Like Minds senators, however, came up with a zoning formula that gave the position of Majority Leader to the North East; Deputy Majority Leader, North West; Chief Whip, South West; and Deputy Whip, South South, respectively.

According to one of the lawmakers who attended the APC Senators meeting, Suleiman Hunkuyi the issue was caused by attempts by the Saraki-led group to impose its candidates on the party.

The drama started when midway into the meeting which was held behind closed door, an angry Senator Hunkuyi stormed out of the venue and threw the doors open, asking newsmen around to witness the drama.

With the atmosphere already charged, trouble started when Senator Tayo Alasoadura (APC Ondo Central), a member of the Like Minds senators differed over the choice of Senator Sola Adeyeye (APC Osun Central) as Chief Whip.

The lawmaker insisted that Senator Robert Borroffice (APC, Ondo North) was a better candidate to Adeyeye, given his experience as a ranking senator.

However one of the Unity Forum senators, Kabiru Marafa (APC, Zamfara Central), took offence with Senator Alasoadura’s observation and launched an unexpected attack on the latter who staggered backwards and almost fell to the ground. Senators at this point, rushed to the rescue of Alasoadura by forming a wall to prevent him from hitting the ground.

Speaking earlier, Senate President Saraki had said, “Distinguished colleagues, I have convened this meeting for obvious reason, among other things, the need to come together, unite with each other and embrace one another on the platform of love, brotherliness, with the believe that we would all do the needful and put our differences behind us and forge ahead.

“As we go into this meeting, let us discuss, interact and bear our minds out with the belief that there are solutions to all issues. Every thought and ideas shall be welcomed and every opinion and suggestion will be considered because this is a family affair”.

In his reaction, Senator Abu Ibrahim stated that zoning of the principal officers is an exclusive preserve of the party and the party must wield its stick on any lawmaker who violates the authority of the party.

He said, “The party has come out with its own position and some people are trying to rush, to sabotage the party’s position [again]. We will see whether the senate president will heed the party’s directive."

APC to Saraki, Dogara: Accept Lawan, Gbajabiamila as leaders

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership wrote to the Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki and the speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday to convey the party’s approval of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as majority leaders in the two chambers of the 8th National Assembly.

The APC NWC also approved Senator George Akume and five others as principal officers.

The APC leaders’ position was communicated to Saraki and Dogara by the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, in separate letters.

In the letters to Saraki and Dogara respectively, Oyegun asked them to take “necessary action”.

The letter to the Senate President reads, “Please find below for your necessary action names of principal officers approved by the party after excessive consultations for the 8th Senate as follow:

“Majority Leader: Senator Ahmed Lawan, PhD (North East); Chief Whip: Sen. Prof Sola Adeyeye (South West); Deputy Majority Leader: Sen. Dr George Akume (North Central); Deputy Chief Whip: Sen. Abu Ibrahim (North West).”

The text of a similar letter to the House Speaker listed the approved principal officers as:
House Leader: Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (South West); Deputy House Leader: Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa (North West); Chief Whip: Hon. M.T. Monguno (North East); Deputy Chief Whip: Hon. Pally Iriase (South South).

The APC adopted the lists submitted by The Unity Forum (Senate) and The Loyalists (House of Reps) to heal the wounds and reconcile all after the June 9 controversial NASS leadership elections.

More than 12 members of the APC NWC supported the recommended candidates.

It remains to be seen if Saraki and Dogara will accept the party’s position or follow the rebels again.

Female Student Kills Herself after Her Boyfriend Dumped Her

Pandemonium and tears at the weekend enveloped Abraka community in Delta State when a 26-year-old microbiology student of the State-owned University identified as Evelyn Mogekwu allegedly killed herself after being jilted by her fiance.

Reports said the end of the seven-year relationship traumatised the girl as all plans to walk down the aisle with her boyfriend failed to materialise.

Sources said the girl was in high spirits in her hostel but her mood changed dramatically and she became dejected after her fiance called her on phone to declare their relationship over.

She was said to have bought some drugs, claiming she was having a head ache and went into her room, leaving a message for roommate that they might not see her again.

Few minutes later, her roommate who sensed something terrible was going on, raced into the room and found her lying lifeless on the floor. The roommate then raised an alarm that attracted other students to the room, but before help came the girl’s way, she had given up the ghost.

Confirming the sad incident, some senior police officers at the Abraka Police Division, who did not want their names in print, said they recovered particles of drugs on the ground beside the deceased.

Her roommate are currently being detained by the police for interrogation.

The Kenyan mom whose 22-year-old daughter eloped with her husband tells her story

Her story is so pathetic and complicated. The mom is only 36. She had her first child at 14, and at 36 she already has six more. Worst part, her new husband started sleeping with her first daughter (his step child) at 8. Now they have eloped together to live as husband and wife, leaving the woman behind with the six children. The story;

A woman in Kibera is searching for her 22-year-old daughter who ran away with her husband in a bizarre case of husband snatching. Caroline Achieng, 36, has been in agony for the past one year during which her efforts to trace her missing daughter whom she conceived as a teenager have been fruitless.

The daughter went missing after a family altercation that ensued from a revelation that she had an affair with her stepfather, got pregnant and procured an abortion, all paid for by her mother after a well-choreographed trickery by the duo.

Achieng’s daughter was last seen at the Kibera District Commissioner’s office when the family had been summoned over rape allegations that she had filed against her stepfather.

“We have had our low moments as a family and at some point it got so bad that I fought with my husband and he moved out of our house carrying his and my daughter’s clothes,” Ms Achieng told Nairobi News.

The family drama started in September 2013 when Ms Achieng’s daughter was unwell and frequently complained of stomach pain.

“I told her to go for a checkup and when she came back from the clinic she told me she had been given ulcers medication,” said Ms Achieng.

The girl’s illness kept recurring and at one time the stepfather proposed that he takes her to a better hospital for checkup and to which Achieng obliged.

“He told me that he had identified a doctor at Kijabe Hospital where the girl would be treated and since I was the sole family breadwinner, running a charcoal business, I financed them and they went to the hospital,” she said.

Achieng also financed the follow-up trips to Kijabe Hospital for the treatment of her daughter as her illness kept getting worse until she closed down her charcoal vending business because of the huge hospital bills.

“It was months later after she (daughter) had filed the rape case that she narrated to the officers at Kilimani police station what had happened. That’s when I learnt that all this time when she was ‘ailing’ she was trying to procure an abortion,” said the mother.

Achieng felt cheated as the girl revealed that her step-father had impregnated her and sourced for a clinic where she was given abortion pills that made her stomach pains worse at first but later flushed out the eight-weeks-old foetus.

“She told the officers that she was sexually assaulted repeatedly by my husband since when she was 8-years-old and was impregnated later but she never wanted me to know since her father threatened her,” narrated the mother.

The mother of seven resolved to divorce her husband but before he moved out of the house, her daughter went missing.

Ms Achieng says she searched for her at her relatives’ houses in vain and it is only after her husband of 15 years moved out that she heard that the two had reconnected and were living in an estate unknown to her.

She has been living in agony over her failed marriage as well as being unable to trace her first born daughter who lives with a man who broke her heart and left her with six other children to fend for.

Achieng has managed to secure a casual job with the National Youth Service but she owes her landlord six months’ rent arrears due to her meager earnings that she splits to cater for children school fees and food.

New condom changes color when exposed to STDs

A new 'smart condom' was created by a group of teenage students for the Teen Tech awards, which they claim will glow different colors if it detects an STD!

The creators said the condom will work with a layer of chemicals on the surface that will attach to bacteria and viruses from STDs.

Here are the colors that the condom will change if STDs are detected:

“glow green for chlamydia, yellow for herpes, purple in the presence of the human papillomavirus which causes genital warts, and blue for syphilis.”
Not only will the “smart condoms” make you aware if your partner might have an STD, one of the designers explained:

“We wanted to create something that makes detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive

Buhari says the US and others will assist Nigeria recover stolen funds

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said his administration had received firm assurance from the United States and other countries recover and return funds stolen from Nigeria.

According to a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President said it was now up to Nigeria to provide the international community with the facts and figures needed to drive the recovery effort.

He said:
“In the next three months, our administration will be busy getting those facts and the figures to help us recover our stolen funds in foreign countries,” Adesina quoted the President as saying.
The president made this statement to members of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Citing the report submitted by the Ahmed Joda-led transition committee, President Buhari said that several revenue-generating institutions in the country had been compromised.

In regards to insecurity, the President said traditional rulers would play a key role in stemming terrorism and insurgency in the country.

This, he said, they would do by assisting the government with cost-effective intelligence gathering.
Buhari also assured the traditional rulers that his administration was working hard to end insecurity and terrorism in the country in the shortest possible time with the cooperation of neighbouring countries and the international community.

Acknowledging that Nigerians expected a lot from his administration, the President appealed for patience and understanding while his government works diligently to speedily overcome the huge national challenges it inherited.

The Sultan had earlier presented the Northern Traditional Rulers’ recommendations to the President on issues related to national development.

Mother killed, baby injured, when tree limb falls on playground

A 16-year-old Polk County mother was killed Friday when a tree limb fell on her and her young son.

LaRena Drayton was killed in Peek Park when the limb fell while she and 1-year-old Jeremiah Drayton were sitting on a park bench.

According to LaRena’s sister, the young mom had just moved her son from the baby swings to a park bench when they heard “something crack."

She says, LaRena tried to run with Jeremiah in her arms but they weren’t fast enough.

LaRena was knocked unconscious and later died while Jeremiah was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Sandy Springs with a skull fracture.

Cedartown Parks and Recreation said in a statement, “Our hearts have been heavy since learning of the tragic accident at Peek Park. The passing of Miss Drayton has left our city saddened and we grieve alongside the family for a life that was undoubtedly cut short. We continue to pray for the recovery of Miss Drayton’s young son who was seriously injured in the accident. We ask that everyone keep the entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

A spokesperson for the department says it is investigating why the tree limb fell but that right now it looks like a healthy tree and a freak accident.
