I WAS SCARED OF HAVING A BABY MAMA - PA JAMES

Unlike the present crop of youths in entertainment industry today who have now turned to baby daddy and baby mamas, popular comic actor, Kayode Olasehinde, popularly referred to as Pa James, does not see this as a good idea because of his upbringing.

The actor who stated that people do not take him serious especially when he boards public transport, stated that as a comic actor while growing he was always scared to woo a lady because he was scared of the lady getting pregnant for him when he was not ready to father a child.

Pa James explained that any time ladies wanted to come to his house, he would look for ways of discouraging them from coming just to avoid troubles.

In his words with Punch newspaper, “It took a long while before I began to woo ladies. I learnt a lot from my father, who married only one wife. He always told us to be patient and wait for the right time before embarking on anything in life. Whenever I wanted to woo a woman, I always wondered what I would do if she got pregnant and the thought always dissuaded me from acting on my urges. I had female friends but nothing amorous. On few occasions when ladies would tell me they wanted to come to my house, I always discouraged them from coming because I did not want any trouble. I did not want a scenario where someone would get pregnant for me when I was not ready. For a long while, my neighbours thought I was impotent because they never saw any girl pay me a visit at home as a bachelor.”

Niger Delta group claims that Buhari wants to arrest & imprison GEJ

A civil rights organisation, Vanguards of Nigeria’s Democracy, has claimed that President Buhari is planning to malign and imprison former president Goodluck Jonathan on fabricated charges.

“We, the members of the Vanguards of Nigeria’s Democracy, are aware of some clandestine moves made by the APC-led government to probe, investigate, malign and imprison ex President Jonathan. We are already aware of the trumped-up charges the APC government is leveling against a man who has diligently served the Nigerian state at the highest level of government."

“The APC-led government should take notice that the appointments made so far are skewed in favour of the North, as no Ijaw man has been appointed. While an Ijaw President did not discriminate in appointment, President Buhari is implementing a Northern agenda through some of the appointments.” the leader of the group Osaghae Ogiemudia, said in a statement.

The group also claimed that the ongoing controversy between former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole over Excess Crude Account and allegations that she spent billions of naira on his re-election, is part of what they want to use against GEJ.

Reacting, Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said it was 'mere speculation'. “All these are speculations and I cannot react to speculations because there is nothing concrete yet against the former President.”

DSS explains why it raided Dasuki’s homes, says it impounded 12 cars, assault riffles

The Department of State Security Service, has explained why it raided the home of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and why he was also detained.

Below is a statement they released, signed by Tony Opuiyo, explaining their side of things.

"On 16th July, 2015, about 1650 hours, based on credible intelligence linking the immediate past NSA, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (Col Rtd) with alleged plans to commit treasonable felony against the Nigerian State, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) conducted a search on the properties belonging to the former NSA, Mohammed Sambo DASUKI (Col Rtd). The properties are on Nos. 13, John Khadya Street, Nos. 46, Nelson Mandela Street, both at Asokoro, Abuja, and Nos. 3 Sabon Birni Road, Gwiwa Area, Sokoto, Sokoto State.

“The search operations was planned to be simultaneously conducted, but DASUKI, refused the operatives entry into his main residence located at No. 13 John Khadya Street, Asokoro, despite being presented with a genuine and duly signed search warrant. Consequently, what was to last not more than two (2) hours, lasted more than ten (10) hours, up till the early hours of 17th July, 2015.

Indeed if not for the sense of maturity and professionalism of the officers and men assigned this task and the very good understanding and timely intervention of the new Chief of Army Staff, Tsukur Y. BURATAI (Maj Gen), there would have been a clash between the Army operatives guarding the house and Service operatives, as SAMBO directed the soldiers on duty not to allow any movement into his house, despite the subsisting court order. SAMBO thereafter raised a false alarm to the military authorities to come to his aid as he failed to correctly tell the military that his property was about to be legitimately searched.

“Gentlemen, please recall that SAMBO retired from the Army as a Colonel, and therefore not entitled to have military guards, if not for the fact he was NSA. Even as NSA, such guards should have been withdrawn after his removal as NSA since he would not have been entitled.

“The search was thoroughly conducted, and several items recovered, among which were some incriminating items. These include seven (7) high caliber rifles, (high assault weapons), several magazines and military related gears.

“The team also recovered twelve (12) new vehicles, out of which five (5) were bullet proofs. These vehicles which are all exotic vehicles were retrieved from SAMBO’s residence having failed to produce evidence of ownership. For instance, what could he be doing with five (5) bullet proof cars as a retired NSA?. These cars which from all available evidence were purchased with tax payers money, were being kept for possible sinister enterprise.

“The Service would want to state categorically that this search operation is not a witch hunt. The Service decided to move at this time in line with current management resolve to be proactive and pre-empt individuals with penchant for impunity and lawlessness from putting back the nation to the dark days. The Service is also aware that the lethal arms and the vehicles recovered were not reflected in SAMBO’s handover notes or what could a former NSA be doing with destructive weapons and bullet proof cars which put together could disrupt the peace of any city in Nigeria for a while.

“On the search of his three (3) properties, including the Sokoto residence, the Service is aware that in his capacity and given his antecedents, he might decide to use any of his residences for such diabolical plans, rather than his main residence.

“Gentlemen of the press, the Service Management would want to assure members of the public that it would not trample on the freedom of individuals or groups as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution and emphasized by the current administration’s position on transparency, and probity underlined by justice and equity for all Nigerians. This is the driving force for all DSS operations.

However, the Service would not hesitate to go after any person or group of persons, no matter how highly placed once such individual (s) breach or attempt to breach the laws of the Federation. The days for impunity and indecisiveness in the face of unpatriotic acts by individuals operating against the State are over.

The Service hereby appeal to all Nigerians to be law abiding and partner with it in ensuring a peaceful and secured nation. In the same vein, those that are bent on breaking the rules governing our peaceful co-existence due to either the huge ill gotten wealth they have acquired or imaginary hold they think they have on our nation’s survival, are being warned to rethink. The DSS will use all constitutional means as defined by its mandate to deal decisively with such unpatriotic individuals.

“The Management want to seize this opportunity to appreciate Nigerians for the tremendous acts of goodwill that is being extended to the new dispensation. The Management also wish to assure Nigerians that the gesture and confidence being expressed will be reciprocated with more dedication and service to our dear country Nigeria.

Happy Eid-el-Fitri to you and indeed, all Nigerians. Thank you.

The reason for the detention of the former CSO is not immediately known but a source told Punch that investigators maybe trying to gather information on key officials in Jonathan’s government from Obua.

“The arrest and detention of the former CSO is an indication that every former minister or senior official under Jonathan’s government are not exempted from probe except those that have no criminal suspicion or record of wrong doing in office,” a source explained.

Buhari to make 6000 appointments - Presidency

In an interview with Sahara TV on Saturday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stated that Buhari would be fair to all. He also called for patience and  reassured Nigerians that the President still has over 6,000 appointments to make.

Buhari, who recently sacked the country’s service chiefs that served under former President Goodluck Jonathan and dissolved the boards of many Federal Government parastatals across the country, has been criticised for not constituting his cabinet and appointing people into various boards of parastatals.

The President has also being accused of allegedly favouring the North in the appointment he had made so far. But, “I think President Muhammadu Buhari is sensitive to the diversity of this country. He has more than 6,000 appointments to make. Therefore, why would anybody use less than 10 appointments to judge the President on this matter? Again, it boils down to the lack of patience. This man is an experienced leader. Nigeria stands to gain from the accumulation of wisdom that he has garnered over his long life on earth. He has sworn to an oath that he’s a President of all.

“This government will make as many as 6,000 appointments. And he is bound, even if he doesn’t wish it, by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to reflect federal character.”

She further stated that the Sallah party was an indication of promoting warm interaction and sharing.

She said, “On occasions like this, we celebrate with children, especially the less privileged, including those in the various internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) camp. We love, appreciate and share with their present situation.

Father charged with abandoning 3-year-old daughter at a restaurant

A man was arrested last Sunday morning after leaving his 3-year-old daughter at a Subway restaurant in Harlem on Saturday July 11th, police said.

34-year-old Stanley Fredrique, of Elmont, Long Island, has been charged with abandonment of a child, reckless endangerment and act in a manner injurious to a child.

The man and the toddler entered the restaurant around 11:30 p.m. The father bought the child a sandwich and then left, police said.
Police said the girl could tell them her name, Natalie, but not much else.

The man was being held at the 26th Precinct station house. As the father was being taken into custody, he protested his arrest.

“You guys not in my shoes, you guys don’t have no idea what’s going on,” Fredrique cried out.

Surviellance video shows Fredrique and his daughter happily walking toward the Subway shop where he bought the child a sandwich and left her there.

Rahman Mohammed, who was working at a fruit stand outside said he believes the father was drunk.

He said, "The 3 year old said to her Dad ‘Daddy Daddy Daddy’ and the guy came back and talked to the girl, ‘little baby, oh go sit down, I’m come back,'” Mohammed said. “And that’s it, he left, ya, he left and didn’t come back again.”
A good Samaritan at the restaurant then took her to a police station.

Fredrique was apparently intoxicated when he left the child at the restaurant, sources told Langford.
He told police he forgot her, and when he realized she was missing, he tried to report her missing to police, the sources said.

“We tried to ask her her last name, she couldn’t come up with her last name,” Detective Vincent Signoretti told Stern. “And before the good Samaritan walked her over to the local precinct, they tried walking around the neighborhood, and she couldn’t figure out where she lived either.”

Natalie, who was wearing a green dress with white polka dots and blue pants, was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, for evaluation, but has no injuries.

The girl has since been released into the custody of her mother. The mother refused to give a comment to reporters.

Man stabbed to death in fight over turn to rape girl in SA

An argument over a turn to rape a teenage girl in South Africa has ended in one of the attackers stabbing and killing his accomplice.

The incident happened in Oakmoor Extension 9 in Tembisa, over the weekend according to a report by SA newspaper, Sowetan Live.

According to SA police, the 2 men met the rape victim at a party on Saturday night and the man who was stabbed named Muzimkhulu Dlwathi took the girl away from the party to a house in Oakmoor.

"He grabbed her and went with her to Oakmoor together with his friend. When they arrived at the house, they overpowered the teenager and raped her." SA police spokesperson said

The police spokesperson said the two men took turns raping the victim and then 22 year old Muzi (pictured above) tried to rape the girl again.

"The deceased decided to rape her again but his friend told him that he could not. A fight ensued between the two men. The suspect grabbed a sharp object and stabbed his friend in the upper body. During the fight the girl managed to run away".

The suspect then asked another friend to help him move the injured man to another place, that was when a resident in the building who suspected what was going on alerted the police.

The deceased family said they were shocked that he was accused of rape. Dlwathi's grandmother said he was a sweet boy.

"I last saw him on Saturday when he returned from a family function, he did not say where he was going. A boy came here later that night and told us he was stabbed. He was found in a shack, naked with a stab wound in the neck. He was a sweet boy. I do not believe what they are saying about him. I am not defending him, but why did he kill him?"

His mother also did not believe the allegations against her son.
"That is not my Muzi; he has a girlfriend and we know her. It is painful, especially the way he died," she said.
