Buhari cuts own salary by half

The presidency has said President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would only receive, in the next four years, 50 percent of the salary paid to their predecessors.

A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the President’s decision to take a 50 per cent pay cut was conveyed to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation yesterday by the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Nebolisa Emodi.
