49-year-old gynaecologist commits suicide in Edo

The 49-year-old Chief Consultant Gynaecologist and Managing Director of Hope Medical Centre Benin City, Dr John Abode, who was found dead in his wardrobe last Tuesday, may have actually committed suicide, Vanguard gathered.

Vanguard learned from a top security source that the deceased who was said to have attempted suicide on several occasions, but was stopped by the widow, injected himself with a yet-to-be disclosed substance before heading to his wardrobe where he hanged himself with his belt.

It was learned that the day the sad incident occurred, the wife attended a church service where she later called their 10-year-old son to inform the father that she wanted to speak with him.

The source told Vanguard:  “It was at that point that the boy searched the house and discovered the deceased body in the wardrobe.”

It was learned  that the deceased’s wife rushed down to their residence and it was in an attempt to see if she could revive the husband that she moved the body out of the wardrobe.
Vanguard was further informed that from investigations, the wife had earlier informed the deceased’s family about the attempted suicide in the past by their son, which made the widow to be deeply involved in church activities to intercede for the husband in prayers.

It was further gathered that though the deceased, who also is a staff of the Stella Obasanjo Women and Children Hospital in Benin City, was a successful gynaecologist, his alleged occasional erratic behaviour at home had been a source of great concern to the wife, who had always counselled him against his urge to commit suicide.

Though the deceased’s family is suspecting foul play, autopsy results so far indicated that the deceased died as a result of cessation, mostly caused by suicide. However, the family of the deceased called for another autopsy which is being conducted in Lagos.

I haven't gone bunkers, the 'crying video' on YouTube is handiwork of mischief makers - Yetunde Bustline

It is no news that a video is currently trending on YouTube of a socialite, Yetunde Oduwole Bustline, crying over her being dumped by her actor ex-boyfriend, Babatunde Bernard, popularly known as Baba Tee.

In the said video, Yetunde did not only cry profusely, but also cursed her ex-boyfriend over claims that he embarrassed her before the world.

Reacting to the video, Yetunde, on her Facebook page, admitted to sending the video to Baba Tee sometimes in January, who probably leaked it to the social media to spite her. The blogger, however assured her fans that she's gotten over Baba Tee long ago.

Read her full Facebook post below:

FOR THE RECORDS AND FOR CLARITY....

Whoa! Thanks to family, friends and fans of Bustline all over the world who have been bombarding me with calls and messages about the "Crying Video" Lol. I appreciate you all and at this point; I think you all deserve some clarification.

First of all; do not be scared; I've not gone bunkers. Lol. I couldn't have gone on YouTube to post a video of myself in that kind of situation. Moreso; I wouldn't want you all to catch me without my wig; and with such an ugly face.

Now, the video was sent to Tunde Bernard sometime in December/January when we had a rift and I decided to pack it all up. Hey; I'm not gonna come up here and say I don't cry; I do cry; we all do in our closet. Not a big deal. It was my means of communicating with him at the time because I didn't want to talk to him directly and wanted my words to sink in. Well; he obviously kept the video safe with an evil thought that he would one day use it against me and get me embarrassed. But the table turned in my favour like magic! So far I got more heartfelt messages from well meaning people the world over than the embarrassment it was intended to cause. I guess his intention bounced in his face. To God be the glory!!!

January to me is a long time ago. I have since moved on; and knowing me; I would not sit in a corner for too long. I've got spring in my steps and that makes me unusually unstoppable. Though my cry doesn't last that long; but believe me; it detoxicates me and makes me feel better. Yes big girls cry too. Just like the rest of you.

Please this isn't my current situation and I'm not crazy enough to post such a video. But if there is any award to dole out to me; going by this video; it's the crier of the year award. Lol. That was some good one! People close to me know me to shed tears for even the people I don't know. I shed tears even when watching depressing movies; despite the fact that i know it's make-believe, It's the soft part of me that God has not given me the grace to hide.
If you think you have tarnished my image by uploading and sharing a video that was meant to be between you and I, and you are there mocking and leaving nasty comments; I've got a message for you: God is watching and would definitely pay each person with their own coin. I won't wish you the pain behind those tears; I'll simply let God judge you. Simple.

Bustline is still your sassy and snazzy girl who could cry and who could stay strong at the same time. By the way; I still looked pretty in the video even amidst those tears....never mind my hair though; it was blooming at the time😀😀Maybe when next I cry; I'll apply make up cos you never know where it would be uploaded....looolzzz.

I thank you all for your love and concern. You have all been awesome and supportive. You are all family! And I'm sorry if I haven't picked your call. I couldn't have picked them all.
And to Tunde Bernard who thinks uploading such a private video would depress me, you are hella' wrong you know! This babe is flyiiiiiing!!
Most of all; though it's painful to do; but I forgive you. I won't let you or anyone come in the way of my prayers.

Love you all fam....xx

IT IS WELL.

President Buhari has given us hope - Chibok Community

Following the assurance given by President Muhammadu Buhari that he would do everything possible to rescue the Chibok girls, the Chibok community in Abuja has expressed hope that their daughters will still return to their parents after over one year of abduction.

Speaking to our correspondent yesterday, one of the leaders of the Chibok community, Dr Allen Manasah said the meeting with Buhari has given them hope that these girls will be returned within a short time.

He further noted that for the president to bring out his time to address the BringBackOurGirls Group (BBOG) members and even admitted the lack of attention shown to the case by the previous government, are enough reasons for the community to have hope.

Recall that President Buhari on Wednesday held his first meeting with the BBOG campaigners calling for the rescue of more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in the northeast of Nigeria over 400 days ago.

Buhari praised members of the group for their efforts to prevent the missing children from being forgotten.

“Nobody in Nigeria or outside could have missed your consistency and persistence. I think you will agree that the present government takes the issue very seriously and as you know, the military is working with neighbouring countries to ensure a regional task force that could fight the insurgency,”said Buhari during the meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja.

President Buhari also noted that the last administration completely bungled the hostage situation and showed extreme ineffectiveness in failing to rescue the abducted Chibok girls, and said that both nationally and internationally, the incident put Nigeria in a poor light.

The Boko Haram sect, whose six-year insurgency has seen thousands killed in Africa’s most populous nation and top oil producer, caused an international outcry when it took about 276 girls from secondary school dormitories in April 2014 and later, 57 were able to escape, leaving about 219 in the hands of the terrorists.

I'm not going to pretend, I love sex - Didi Ekanem

She explained that despite her busy schedule, she still enjoys the feeling of the little time she spends with her man.

According to E247 magazine, the actress said, “Who doesn’t love s*x? I’m not going to sit here and tell you I don’t like s*x. Everybody loves fun; it is just natural so I’m not going to pretend I don’t like it. For me, I’m a very busy person. Of course, anytime I have the time for it, of course, I do."

She added that every position goes, as long as she can feel what she wants to feel at that point in time.

TB JOSHUA SPITS FIRE, REJECTS CORONER’S VERDICT

Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua has launched a scathing attack against the verdict of the coroner’s court in Lagos yesterday which ruled the tragic collapse of a building within his church last year was due to structural failure.

“The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) rejects the verdict of the coroner on the grounds that it is unreasonable, one-sided and biased,” a statement released via their official Facebook page read, attributed to Barr. Olalekan Ojo, lead counsel to The SCOAN.

“The church maintains its stand that the incident was as a result of sabotage,” the statement continued, further adding that the public should not be misled by media reports casting sensational headlines suggesting the church was liable for prosecution over ‘criminal negligence’.

The statement highlighted that no evidence was found that The SCOAN hired incompetent professionals or used substandard materials in the construction of the building.

“There was no finding that connected the incident with the lack of a building permit,” the statement proceeded, adding that the process of procuring the necessary approval was well underway and had been assessed and accepted by relevant government agencies before the incident.

“The church disagrees most vehemently with the finding that the incident was due to structural failure,” continued the strongly worded statement, insisting the verdict failed to consider substantial evidence which pointed to sabotage and ruled out structural failure.

“It was a one-sided verdict which left many issues unaddressed and questions unanswered.”

The SCOAN highlighted that the verdict failed to even recognise the CCTV footage released by the church which showed “the 6-storey building falling in less than 4 seconds – a manner consistent with controlled or externally induced demolition”.

It concluded by stating that Chief Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe’s admission “that the conduct of the investigation of the incident was compromised... calls into question the integrity and reliability of the entire investigation.”

Joshua’s supporters were vocal in their support of the ‘prophet’ in the thousands of comments posted beneath the statement, many insisting the verdict was the work of ‘the devil’.

“If you bury a lie, it will rot. If you bury the truth, it will rise,” wrote Opeyemi Oduwole. “We South Africans know what happened to the building; we know the truth. No matter how they lie, the truth will prevail,” added Bridget Mkhonto.

Joshua followed up on the statement by posting a video on Facebook highlighting the differences between controlled demolition and structural failure with the caption, “No matter how fast a lie runs, the truth will someday overtake it.”

Controversy trails death of World’s biggest snake

The world biggest snake, Anaconda has been killed and they said it took them 37 days to kill it.

According to what was posted on a website with a photo of the Anaconda, explains it was found in Africa's Amazon River and has killed 257 human beings and 2325 animals. It is 134 feet long and 2067 kgs. Africa's Royal British commandos took 37 days to get it killed.

A Nigerian online has however started a debate saying it is a blatant lie and the Anaconda must have been killed in South America and not Africa.

Read what he said below:

THIS IS A COMPLETE FABRICATION. ANACONDAS LIVE IN SOUTH AMERICA... AND THERE IS NOTHING LIKE AFRICAN AMAZON. D ONLY AMAZON FOREST IS IN SOUTH AMERICA. D SPECIE OF CONSTRICTORS DAT LIVE IN AFRICA ARE D AFRICAN ROCK PYTHON AND IT DOESN'T EVEN GROW UP TO D ANACONDA. EVEN D BIGGEST ANACONDA FOUND LIVING OR DEAD ACCORDING TO VERIFIABLE DATA IS NO WHERE NEAR DIS SIZE. SO THIS IS A HUGE, BIG FRAUD AND FABRICATION. IT'S NOT IN AFRICA.

T.B. Joshua’s foreign supporters blast Nigeria over building collapse ruling

T. B. Joshua

Supporters of controversial Nigerian pastor and self acclaimed healer and seer, Prophet T.B. Joshua, whose guesthouse killed 116 people in September 2013 when it suddenly collapsed in the premises of the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos have blasted Nigeria over the coroner’s court ruling which said on Wednesday that the six storey building came down, not as a result of a chemical or terror attack by an unidentified plane as the prophet had claimed in a video, but due to structural defaults, due to negligence.
About 116 people, most of them South African worshipers had died in the building collapse, and the court recommended on 8 July 2015 that the contractors be prosecuted for negligence.

T.B. Joshua himself refused to testify in court when he was invited, claiming that he was being witch-hunted by his enemies and detractors as he was not a building engineer, but only the head of a church, preaching the word of God to the afflicted.

The cleric’s supporters, mainly foreign supporters, expressed anger and dismay over the ruling on Wednesday, but did not remember the dead and injured of the collapsed building which was still being built and lodging foreign worshippers at the same time the day it collapsed on Friday 12 September 2013 in Ikotun area of Lagos.

“Do you know what this verdict will cost Nigerians both at home and abroad,” wrote a fan who claimed to be writing from the United States and gave his name as ‘Freedom’.”The Nigerian government should know the whole world has seen the footage of what happened in the incident. You cannot hide the truth.”

“I am a lawyer and I must say that indeed the coroner panel was biased,” wrote John Mooney, who claimed to be an Australian. “The Lord shall vindicate you and the entire church,” he added, commenting on the official statement released by The SCOAN which rejected the coroner’s outcome as ‘one-sided’ and ‘unreasonable’.

Morcie Tulloch, who claimed to be a Jamaican, stated,”This attack on your ministry is an indication that you are impacting the kingdom of darkness not only with your deliverance and healing ministries but your love and care for the poor and suffering.”

“What else do we expect from the so called coroner,” wrote Peter allegedly from United Kingdom. “The same people who masterminded the controlled demolition of the SCOAN guest house are also behind the coroner’s unholy verdict,” he said in anger.

John Parker, an American, stated,”The truth will eventually be revealed and may God have mercy on those who would bear false witness against a man of God!”

“Why is a bombed building said to have collapsed due to poor workmanship,” commented Zgambo Binford, a Kenyan based Malawian. “I now see why us Africans are 1000s of years behind Westerners.”

Dee Kivido from Holland was insistent that it was not a case of structural failure. “The way that building came down is CLEAR to anyone even with minimum construction knowledge that it was not caused by structural defects,”she stated. “I am a woman in construction and can attest to this.”

“Nigeria should know that human rights activists will not rest this case until justice is done,” added Matt Weller, a social activist from Germany. “The Nigerian government will be made to pay for this monumental cover-up,” he heatedly declared.

“This is further proof that the church is being attacked by darkness throughout the world,”wrote American Cindi Sherstad, comparing The SCOAN verdict with the recent decision of the US Supreme Court to approve same-sex marriage.

“I pray that calmness shall come over this situation,” wrote Christian-Elizbe van Schalkwyk from South Africa, assuring Joshua that South Africans were behind him and his ministry.

The comments were posted on Prophet T.B . Joshua’s Facebook page.

In two months, it will be two years since the worshippers died in a place they had come to seek God’s face. While the controversy lingers and no one wants to take responsibility for their death but everyone is blaming the devil or satanic forces, for the families of the victims, their loved ones are gone, and gone forever. And in just two months, they will be the only ones remembering them in the silence of their broken hearts and empty rooms. For they were not just numbers, but fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers.

Meet this Nigerian woman who is a professional painter, tiler, and plumber

Fatimah Ibrahim is a 39 year old widow, a mother of two, from Borno state. A chance encounter with her on the street would most certainly portray her as just one of the thousands of ordinary women walking the streets of Lagos. But meeting her at a building site would startlingly reveal the other side of her!

This woman is a professional painter, tiler, and plumber! When asked how and why she entered into professions dominated by men, she had this to say:

“I have always loved painting .My friend’s husband who is a painter taught me how to paint, and I started painting even when my husband was alive.

Later, I picked interest in tiling and plumbing profession, and I went for the training. Right now, after my husband’s death, I am proud to say I am a professional painter, tiler, and plumber. To me being a woman doesn’t really matter”

As must be expected, Fatimah is confronted with some challenges which centers mainly on gender disparity. “It’s been hard getting work. Some people give me jobs to do, and they are never disappointed; but others are just reluctant to trust me with their buildings, because they still find it difficult to believe the fact that a woman can do these jobs, and even do them better than men.

She called on the public and the government to give her contracts and test her level of capability. She also stressed that these were her means of livelihood.

“I am a widow. I have two children aged 13 and 9.I am not begging the public for food, as I have been blessed with the means of providing for my children. All I am asking if for Individuals, contractors, Government to give me jobs so I can make money and take care of my children and other widows who are not so fortunate to have vocations like mine”.

Insurgency worsens under Buhari – Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, says insurgency has worsened since the inauguration of the present administration. He said Boko haram was already being rolled out of Nigeria before the elections but surprisingly they have increased their attacks and spread to other parts of Nigeria.

"I am worried about the insurgence of the Boko Haram activities in Nigeria.  Shortly before the inauguration of the present government, the country had almost rolled back Boko Haram and its activities in every part of Nigeria, from Adamawa to Borno to Yobe.

I was hoping that when we come back in the 8th Assembly, that I will work with our colleagues from the North-East to develop a plan of action that will help to rehabilitate that part of Nigeria.

I feel so concerned about the suffering of our people from the North-East of Nigeria. I had hoped that by now we would be tasking ourselves on how best to rebuild that part of Nigeria. Regrettably the actions of Boko Haram seems to have resurfaced now not only in Borno, they have carried out their activities also in Plateau, they have gone to Adamawa, Kaduna.

I am worried that if nothing is done, the next target would be Abuja. Maybe they start going to South. It is important for us as those in government, whether Executive or Legislature, to come together to find solutions to these problems.” he told newsmen

Buhari rejects N400m armoured cars

President Muhammadu Buhari has turned down an offer by the Federal Government to buy 5 new armoured Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use. The cars which cost is about N400m were planned to be purchased by the State House.

A source close to the presidency told journalists on Thursday that Buhari found out about the plan when the Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr. Nebolisa Emodi, briefed him of his ministry’s activities on Wednesday.

Angry at the revelation, the President was said to have told Emodi that the purchase was unnecessary. Describing it as a waste of scarce resources, the source said Buhari told the permanent secretary that the cars he inherited from former President Goodluck Jonathan were good enough for him.

“I don’t need any new cars. The ones I am using now are just fine,” the source quoted the President as saying.

Top government officials, however, said Buhari welcomed other initiatives presented by the permanent secretary to reduce the operating costs of the State House and strengthen its Finance and Accounts Internal Control Mechanisms.

However he directed that more efforts be made towards the capture of all State House expenses within the approved national budget, in order to avoid the frequent recourse by past administrations to “Presidential intervention funds.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed that Buhari had withheld approval for the purchase of the new cars. Shehu said the President would continue to use the cars left behind by Jonathan in keeping with his commitment to prudent management of national resources.
