Popular Actor Cosby Admits To Drugging Woman For Sex

Embattled popular US comedian Bill Cosby admitted having drugged at least one woman with Quaaludes to have sex with her, in court documents unsealed Monday.

Cosby, accused of sexual assault by about 30 women over decades but who has so far escaped justice, made the admission in a deposition in 2005, talking about an incident from 1976.

The 77-year-old was questioned by Dolores Troiani, a lawyer for Andrea Constand, ex-women’s basketball director at Philadelphia’s Temple University where Cosby studied and was a member of BOT.

Constand took her rape case to court, but the case was dropped.

Cosby’s lawyers had sought to block publication of the court transcripts, but they were released Monday on the PACER public court records website.

In one exchange between Cosby and Troiani, the comic admitted having obtained seven prescriptions for Quaaludes, a powerful sedative drug.

“You gave them to other people?” asked the attorney. “Yes,” replied Cosby.

Troiani then asked him: “When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?”

“Yes,” replied Cosby, although a short time later he said he had misunderstood the question, and was referring only to one woman.

“I misunderstood. Woman, meaning T….., and not women,” he said.

He has resigned from the board of Temple University as sexual abuse accusations against him multiplied.

Cosby is famous for his role in “The Cosby Show,” a family sitcom that aired in the 1980s and 1990s.

500,000 rally for Aregbesola’s impeachment today

Over 500,000 people across Osun State are expected to participate in today’s (Tuesday, July 7) rally in support of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s impeachment, according to the organisers, Civil Societies’ Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEO).

According to the group at a press briefing held in Osogbo on Monday, over 20 civil and faith-based societies who are members of CSCEO are already mobilising their members towards the mass rally.

500,000 rally for Aregbesola’s impeachment today
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State
The group’s Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Sulaiman Alimi, gave the names of associations ready for the rally as The Voices, KIMPACT, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice, Grassroot Democratic Network, Christian Initiative for Nation Building, Christian Leadership Mobilisation and Better Future Initiative.

Others are Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Justice, Development and Peace Commission Movement (JDPCM), Positive Movement, Good Governance Support Group, Democratic Socialist Movement and Conference of National Political Parties (CNPP).

Alimi explained that over three petitions, including the one sent by a state serving judge, Justice Folaranmi Oloyede, calling for Aregbesola’s probe and impeachment are presently before members of the state House of Assembly and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

“Our demand is nothing but the removal of Ogbeni Aregbesola. If a chieftain of his party and indeed a former National Chairman of APC and a one-time governor of Osun state, Chief Adebisi Akande can declare that 24-year-old Osun is not viable under Aregbesola, then, we are of the view that the man at the helm of affairs should quit,, he stated.

In his remark, the group’s Secretary, Comrade Sulaiman Adeniyi, said, “As it stands today, Osun is a failed state under the watch of Aregbesola, with all the characteristics already manifested; hunger, poverty, closed hospitals, schools, government offices, courts, internal displacement of persons, failed and abandoned projects from roads to buildings.

“Jungle justice in the absence of the judiciary, collapse of public utility, insecurity, as burglary and petty stealing pervades the land arising from excruciating hunger and lack.

“We see the situation escalating, even beyond the control of security agents in the country as hungry men are angry men and conversely, angry men in their numbers are ominous dangers to the society.

“Wole Soyinka, regrettably an ally of the autocratic, dictatorial and unusual government of Osun State under the unusual Ogbeni, once said ‘the man dies in all who keep silent in the face of tyranny’.

“Our docility, gullibility (“omoluabi mentality”) and cowardice as a people, coupled with the greed and selfishness of the custodians of our traditions as well as the spiritual insensitivity and nonchalance of our religious leaders certainly contributed in no small measure to get us to this deplorable state of things which we could never have thought of in our wildest imagination.

“In addition to these is the failure of the State House of Assembly to perform her duties as enshrined in sections 4, 128 and 129 of the constitution as the watchdog of the executive arm of government”, he stated.

He urged concerned Osun indigenes, including workers, artisans, pensioners and students to join forces with CSCEO to ensure that both the state House of Assembly and EFCC perform their constitutional responsibilities, saying there are enormous evidence of financial mismanagement by Aregbesola’s government.

Don't rush Buhari to hasty action, Gowon pleads with Nigerians

Following the recent 30-day assessment of the new government led by President Buhari, and Buhari being referred to Baba Go-slow, former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has pleaded with Nigerians not to rush the new president.

Speaking exclusively with the Nigerian Tribune, in Ibadan, Gowon said;
"Give him a chance. You cannot solve any problem within two or three days. People say they want a change but as far as the problem of Nigeria is concerned, you cannot do it in one day, in one month. It will take time before a lot of these changes would be done and done effectively.”
“Let us give Buhari the chance to do things in the proper way to be able to get a good result. I have read it in some papers where people question him that in 30 days nothing has been done. It is unnecessary.”
“They criticised me when I was Head of State that the civil war was taking too long. I said, Yes, do they know some of the problems that are involved in dealing with some of those problems?”

Budget 2015: Shops to trade for longer on Sundays under radical new plans in Britain

Under the plans to be announced in the Budget, Sunday trading hours will become a devolved issue in Britain, meaning that mayors and local councils will be able to decide how long shops can open for.

The Treasury believes that extending Sunday trading could create thousands of jobs and generate hundreds of millions of pounds a year in extra income for shops around the country.

The new measures will be taken forward in the Government’s new Enterprise Bill in the autumn, the Treasury said.

Until 1994, only specialist outlets such as garden centres, corner shops or chemists were allowed to trade on a Sunday.

An attempt by Margaret Thatcher’s Government to allow shopping on Sundays was in 1986 defeated by Tory MPs who saw it as a threat to family life and church attendance.

The Church of England has made clear its opposition to a change in Sunday trading rules.

Opponents have warned that a relaxation of the rules would hit already-dwindling church attendances.

“Even two decades on from the introduction of the Sunday Trading Act, it is clear that that there is still a growing appetite for shopping on a Sunday,” Mr Osborne said. “There is some evidence that transactions for Sunday shopping are actually growing faster than those for Saturday.

“The rise of online shopping, which people can do round the clock, also means more retailers want to be able to compete by opening for longer at the weekend. But this won’t be right for every area, so I want to devolve the power to make this decision to mayors and local authorities.

“This will be another part of my plan to ensure a truly national recovery, with our great towns and cities able to determine their own futures.”

Reforming Sunday trading rules would bring the UK in line with its international competitors.

Paris has recently relaxed restrictions on Sunday trading, while there are none at all in New York.

A number of polls have found that after more than 20 years of restricted trading consumers want the laws to be relaxed.

Sunday trading rules were relaxed in the UK during the 2012 Olympics, resulting in a significant surge in sales.

However, Britain's biggest retailers are divided over whether to extend trading hours on a Sunday.

Asda and Morrisons have previously pressed for the Government to change the law, but Tesco, Sainsbury’s and John Lewis support the current rules.

Tesco, Britain’s biggest retailer, last year said: “Whilst we recognise the benefits on a limited basis, such as the Olympics in 2012, we are mindful of the impact this would have on our colleagues. We do not have any plans to change our current position.”

However, Asda said: “Our customers’ shopping habits have changed significantly in recent years with convenience ranking high, alongside value. Retailers need to adapt to meet the needs of customers, which is why we support a review of Sunday trading laws.”

Morrisons urged the Government to “listen to customers”. It said: “Increasingly they want to shop at different times and sometimes they want retailers to open earlier and stay open later.”

Research has found that extending Sunday trading by two hours in London alone would create nearly 3,000 jobs, and generate over £200 million a year in extra income.

Jega returns to class

Former National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Muhammad Jega, Monday returned to his teaching job at the Bayero University, Kano following the expiration of his tenure at INEC last week.

Jega, who arrived the university around 10 o’clock in the morning amidst a rousing reception by staff and students was first reported to the Vice Chancellor to signify his resumption of duty.

It could be recalled that the former INEC Chairman, had on several occasions disclosed his desire to returned to classroom after the expiration of his tenure as the nation’s number one electoral officer.

Receiving the former INEC boss, in his office, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, said they were happy to have Jega, back whom he described as the institutions great ambassador.

“Bayero University, Kano is indeed proud of you Professor Attahiru Jega, you are really a good ambassador to this great institution,” said the Vice Chancellor, stressing that, the university’s name has been projected in high esteem by the good work of Jega.

According to him the Bayero University will never forget Jega, for conducting the freeist and fairest election ever.

In his brief address, the former INEC Chairman told the Vice Chancellor that right from the day he set out for the INEC job, he went with a desire to return after his tenure.

Jega, disclosed that teaching has been one job he cherished and this informed his decision to return to classroom, barely seven days after quitting the plumb job of chief electoral umpire.

He promised to deliver his very best in teaching, research and community service. Professor Jega expressed appreciation to the university community for the warm receptions accord him.

Buhari empties Excess Crude Account

The Federal Government has taken a final step to liquidate the Excess Crude Account (ECA) whose management has been an issue of controversy, especially between states and the central government.

Following the decision, which was taken after a meeting President Muhammadu Buhari held yesterday with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastasia Nwaobia, and Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Ahmed Idris, among other top officials, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) is set to distribute among the three tiers of government about $1.7 billion (N391 billion) left in the account by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Yesterday’s decision came barely a week after Buhari, while inaugurating the National Economic Council (NEC) in Abuja, directed that henceforth; all revenues accruing to the country should be remitted to the Federation Account before distribution among the three tiers of government. The administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo had in 2004 set up the ECA where surplus from the defined oil benchmark as fixed in the budget would be saved for augment of the federation revenue in case of disruption in the stream of income, largely from the oil sales.

As a result of the sharp rise in oil price, funds in ECA ballooned to over $20 billion by November 2008, from $5.1 billion in 2005. But by June 2010, the account had dropped to about $4 billion due to budget deficits at all levels of government and the steep drop in oil prices. States were not happy with the establishment of ECA and had queried the power of the Federal Government to force them to save with some arguing that the government did not seek their consent before setting up ECA. State governors, under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) had taken the fight over the establishment of ECA to the Supreme Court for adjudication.

They had asked the Supreme Court to declare ECA illegal but the case has made no headway in court as it has suffered many adjournments.
FAAC members, com-prising commissioners of finance of the 36 states of the federation and the Accountant-General of the Federation met yesterday in Abuja where they were expected to consider the funds remaining in the ECA account for sharing among the Federal Government, 36 states and the 774 local government councils. Idris told State House correspondents after the meeting with the president that the amount would be distributed based on approved formula. The $1.7 billion to be distributed is, however, less than the $2 billion, which Edo State Governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, had told reporters at the NEC inauguration was remaining in the ECA. On the current state of the ECA, Idris said: “It is hovering between $1.6 and $1.7 billion and that is what we are going to distribute among all the three tiers of governments, the federal, states and local governments based on the approved formula.” On the sharing of the money, he said: “Even today (yesterday) we are going to meet.

The FAAC is going to meet and we are going to distribute as agreed and directed during the NEC meeting last week, and the position is very clear. What we met on ground is what we are going to distribute.” The NEC, at its inaugural meeting with Vice- President Yemi Osinbajo, had also directed FAAC to distribute funds in the ECA to the tiers of government to cushion the effects of the financial crisis facing the country, especially states many of which are in arrears of paying workers’ salaries. Idris said in line with the directive of the president, his office was working to ensure prudent management of all revenues accruing to the country.

“Well, the general message is clear; Mr. President had a clear direction and we all have to fall in line. This entails prudence management of resources and identifying more alternative ways of generating revenue, which we are set to do and to manage very efficiently and effectively the meagre resources we have for the betterment of the economy,” he added.

Nwaobia had earlier led Idris to the meeting with the president where they made further clarification of the handover notes from the ministry as presented by the immediate past administration. Nwaobia, in an interaction with State House reporters, said: “We are basically here to brief the president on the activities of the Ministry of Finance. Well routinely, we go on with our work, our functions as the Ministry of Finance have not stopped. Government is a continuum so all our mandates and functions we will continue to implement them as required.”

She assured Nigerians that the state of the nation’s finances was stable and not as shaky as being insinuated in some quarters. “The state of Nigerian finances is okay; our finances are still okay, though we are still going through challenges of revenue stream to government and this you know obviously is from the oil shock as the price of oil has dropped. “It has significantly reduced the revenue stream to the government, but we are working in other ways to see how we can shore up the revenue so that we will be able to meet our expenditures,” she stated.

Asked on what was the reaction of the president on their briefing, the permanent secretary said: “Obviously when you brief the president, he will tell you what he expects in certain aspects of your operations and we gave our briefings in that regard.” On the payment of fuel subsidy to marketers, she said: “We did not say that we will not pay subsidy; like the former minister said, there is a liability on subsidy, which is being verified by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Budget Office of the Federation.

“The issue had to do with the forex differentials which they were claiming and this committee is looking into it and as soon as it is resolved, we will be able to pay the verified amount also.” Nwaobia, however, dismissed allegations of looting in some ministries as a result of absence of ministers. “If people have evidence that there is a large-scale looting going on, they are free to come with such and the Freedom of Information Act allows that you ask questions so if there are ministries they are suspecting of embarking on a large-scale looting, which I think is not true, everybody is free to ask,” she added.

See photos that ended Scott and Kourtney Kardashians' relationship

Kourtney Kardashian has reportedly split from Scott Disick after he was snapped cosying up to Chloe Bartoli in Monte Carlo, and here we have looked back at the snaps once again.

The reality star, who is rumoured to have once dated the brunette, spent time with her on a luxury yacht in the South of France on Friday, shortly after first being spotted with his arm round her on the beach and at dinner with friends.

From wrapping his arms round her at dinner, to lazing back on sun loungers together - Scott can barely keep his hands to himself as the pair looked very close in the sunny spot.

And now, as rumours continue he's acting single, E! News reports Kourtney has ended the relationship after nine years together.

The snaps on Friday once again showed the twosome getting close as they relaxed in the sun with one another.

Scott was appropriately dressed for a day on the ocean, wearing colourful swim shorts and boat shoes.

Meanwhile his 25-year-old lady friend flaunted her lovely legs in a pair of denim shorts teamed with an oversized grey T-shirt.

As the twosome enjoyed an intimate one-on-one, Scott was also spotted carrying a can of beer.

The sight of the reality star chugging back lager will no doubt arouse concern from his friends.

According to reports, those closest to the 32-year-old have become concerned over his recent antics.

A source told E! News!: "They fear he is out of control and has fallen off the wagon.

"He is partying hard and they are concerned."

This comes after Scott previously revealed that he has 'plans' to go back to rehab.

Earlier this week Scott and Chloe were spotted getting very close after he was reportedly kicked out by Kourtney Kardashian.

The mum-of-three has since made her first public appearance as she ran errands in Los Angeles on Friday.

During her outing it was clear that the brunette beauty was trying to put on a brave face.

Kellie Maloney: I may not have gone through sex change if my Irish dad was still alive

Kellie Maloney has revealed she would never have had the courage to change gender while her Irish father was alive.

The 62-year-old boxing promoter is very proud of her background as her mum 80-year-old mum Maureen was born in Wicklow and her dad Thomas was from Roscrea, Co Tipperary.

But speaking in Dublin yesterday Kellie said she is not sure Thomas would have understood why she had to change and become a woman.

She added: “My mum is a very strong woman. My dad was hardworking and taught us all values but obviously I didn’t tell my dad about the gender issues. I think that was one of my problems, keeping things bottled up for so long.

“I don’t know if he would have understood it because of his background.

“He was a man’s man, he was a great father, he taught us right from wrong. He taught us the importance of working hard and the importance of many things. He taught us everything he didn’t do and I used to say to him, ‘Dad why are you lecturing us because you never did this yourself?’

“And he said, ‘You learn from my mistakes – when you become a parent you can tell your children things to do that you should have done.’ And they were quite true words.”

Kellie said her fears of what her father might think of her meant she kept parts of her life hidden from view.

She revealed: “I had so much respect for my dad that I would have found it very hard. I would have feared seeing him losing that respect for me for what I had achieved in the boxing world.

“But my mother is totally different – she has accepted it and she’s not only my mum she is my best friend. We have been through a lot together and she gives me a lot of help and advice.”

Almost a year after leaving Frank behind to change into Kellie, the boxing promoter says life has changed for the better.

And there is romance on the cards already although Kellie is not sure where it will lead.

She said: “My life is much easier now – it’s much more relaxed and I am very contented.

“I’m not living life anymore pretending to be someone I’m not.”

“I was living a lie, I was trying to be someone I wasn’t and for that reason I didn’t always make the right decisions and I wasn’t always a happiest person to be around. I think I am a better parent now too because I don’t hide anything anymore.”

Sipping on a latte in a Dublin hotel, dressed in sharp cigarette pants and a patterned blouse, Kellie lights up when she talks about enjoying a date or two with actor Lincoln Hudson.

The pair were spotted out last week but it was actually their second meeting and a third is being arranged.

She said: “I went on a date with Lincoln last week and he has asked me out again. And I have said yes. But at the moment they are just dates.

“For me it is very hard - because of what I have been through and the sort of baggage I am carrying. And also I am a very public figure so the person I go out with would have to be a very strong character.

“I am instantly recognisable and I draw attention so I would have to be able to trust that person because I would be opening up to them and I would need to be able to lean on that person emotionally.”

And as yet Kellie is not sure about who she will be attracted to, if anyone.

She said: “It could be a man it could be a woman I don’t know – this journey is not about my sexuality, it’s about my gender. But now that I have found myself I am still on a journey because I have to discover my sexuality or even to see if I want to have a sexual relationship.

“I am quite happy going out to dinner and being wined and dined, being paid compliments. It’s nice.

“Will it develop into a relationship? I don’t know and that’s the truth.

“I find him very good company, I find him easy to go out with.

“He contacted me through Facebook telling me he was a big boxing fan and saying I was very brave. We met in private at my house to have coffee at first and then he sent me a text and asked me to dinner.”

Kellie said her one mistake was choosing a very well-known spot for dinner.

She said: “He let me choose the restaurant and I thought it would be nice to choose one that I used to go to as Frank a lot. I think that was my mistake – next time I will choose somewhere a bit quieter.”

But Kellie said she still compares other men to Frank who looked after himself well.

She revealed: “Frank was quite charismatic and flamboyant. He looked after himself and when I look at men I think, ‘You don’t visit the gym too much, you don’t dress too smartly’.

“I actually judge people on the standards of Frank. But Lincoln’s a decent looking guy.” Frank had great success in the world of boxing but Kellie said Darren Sutherland’s death was one of her darker moments.

She added: “I think that was one of the saddest days of my life and also for the Sutherland family - I have a lot of respect for them and that is why I don’t want to talk about the subject.”

Kellie has written a book about her own experiences, Frankly Kellie, and now she is hoping to repeat Frank’s success in the world of sport, as well as taking on a few other projects. She said: “I have just gone back into boxing – where Frank would have jumped into the water to sink or swim Kellie is just putting her toes in.

“I would like to try and prove that anything I acheived before I can do again as Kellie.

“I might not produce a world champion but if I can produce a champion of some kind I will be very happy.

“I have been asked to do a couple of TV shows but I want to help people to understand the transexual issue.

“It is not about your sexuality it is about your gender. It is two different things.

“My gender is who I go to bed as and my sexuality is who I wake up in bed with. And at this point no one has been in my bed yet so I don’t know my sexuality.” And Kellie reckons going through her transition from Frank to her new life in such a public way has also helped her come to terms with it.

She said: “I think it has helped me get through my crises and made people aware of the transexual issue in a good way. People have seen that I am just a normal person.

“I know in about six months’ time my fame will have faded and I will be able to live a normal life.

Man killed by alligators after mocking the creatures before jumping into river full of them

A man has been killed by an alligator just moments after he mocked the animals for daring to interfere with his swim.

Tommie Woodward and an unnamed woman were swimming in a bayou in Burkart's Marina in Louisiana on Friday.

The 28 year old was warned that the deadly animals were in the water, but it didn't stop him jumping in.

Orange County Justice of the Peace Rodney Price told KDFM that Woodward didn't heed warnings from nearby people and ignored clear signposting about the dangers in the water.

"He removed his shirt, removed his billfold ... someone shouted a warning and he said 'blank the alligators' and jumped in to the water. He was quickly attacked by the alligator and didn't survive his injuries.'

MARRIAGES ARE CRASHING BECAUSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA - BETTY IRABOR

These days of the social media is an era when ladies think they know everything and the guys too are not yet in a hurry to completely loose their place and position as expected in a proper African home.

Publisher of Genevieve Magazine, Mrs. Betty Irabor, after taking a survey round to understand why several of the marriages in the 2000s are crashing, has warned married couples to be weary of information they share on social media as it is now one of the major cause of marriage failures.

Marriages experience issues but once you bring it on social media for all to know, you're killing it.

Cautioning young couples to stop posting stuffs about their challenges in marriage on any social median platform, she said: “Blame social media for most of the marriage breakup we see today. What can usually be settled in private (among the couples) is not given any chance to fix itself.”

She recalled that on the day couples are taking the oath, they are always warned not to allow third party into their affairs which use to be their mother-in-law but now it has turned to social media.

Mrs. Betty Irabor warned ladies, especially celebrities to try and keep their marriage life out of the public glare as most misunderstanding could be worked out but once it has been brought to the front burner, the opportunity for a remedy is almost impossible.

“Ladies should lock out social media from their private affairs. Live your marriage behind closed doors. Marriages have issues but most can be worked out but for the meddlesomeness of social media and it’s over sensationalism of lovers tiffs,” she wrote.

I guess it's couples who lack proper training that think posting their issues on social media is the best thing to do.

SEUN KUTI LASHES NIGERIANS’ OBSESSION WITH US GAY MARRIAGE ISSUE

Following the legalisation of gay marriage in the United States of America, Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has reacted to Nigerians who have continued to obsess about the action of the US government.

Speaking on the nine Nigerians that are about to get killed through the Sharia law, he took to Twitter to bare his mind. The younger Kuti said, “Gay marriages in America, Nigerians carry am for head. Kano State is about to kill nine people for blasphemy, an outdated crime in a world of free speech, absolute silence.”

“The similarities of religious bigots spread across Islam and Christians. Pastors insult and demean our own original culture, but we are willing to kill for Islam? Kuti asks.

EMENIKE DENIES CONVERTING TO ISLAM, I’M A STRONG CATHOLIC

The Fenerbahce striker, Emmanuel Emenike is upset with his coach especially for ‘leaking’ his personal information to the media. According to the striker, he was missing on Saturday morning when others ate breakfast and when his coach asked him why he was not there to join others, he simply said he was fasting.

Emenike is upset that his coach mistook his fasting for being a Muslim one and wondered why he had to give the press a wrong perception of his fast.

He however disclosed to the press  that though he missed his breakfast at the club because he was fasting, what he observed was a Christian fast, and not the on-going Muslim fast.

What he said; “The report that I am now a Muslim is absolute rubbish and false. I want the source of the news to re-address it.

I have no reason to convert to Islam even though I have lots of Muslim friends. Is there any big deal observing fasting during the (Muslim) fasting period?” he asked rhetorically.

“I am very disappointed seeing the news going viral because it is something I told my coach in our conversation when he asked me a question and never said I have become a Muslim. Fasting is not what everybody should know that you are doing and it’s very sad seeing this in the media.”

“I am Catholic, a strong one for that matter, and I came from Christian home. I don’t discriminate against anybody and I believe we are all equal in the presence of God, so what is the big deal in fasting? Does he know how many time I fast to get closer to God before the fasting periods? It’s really sad because I don’t see it as a big deal,” he told AfricanFootball.com.
