DIVORCE SAGA GETS MESSIER AS ABIGAIL IGWE TAKES JOHN FASHANU TO THE CLEANERS

After trading few words with her estranged husband, Adaeze Yobo's mum, Abigail Igwe has fully responded to the allegations of her ex-John Fashanu.

Recall that he initially accused her of being a lesbian, a greedy wife and being violent. she has again cleared the air on allegations in a recent chat with Encomium magazine.

“All the things he told you are lies. No media house that wants to survive should listen to John Fashanu. He’s a chronic liar. He’s a drowning man who is looking for another person to drown with. Is it a man that should be ranting or a woman? He’s the one that is hurt that I kicked him out. Who does not know him?

I was ashamed that I lived with such a man. I didn’t know what to say. People will say were you not told? Is it a secret that he’s like that? I’m not such a loud person. That’s why I quietly closed the chapter.", she said.

Slamming the ex-footballer more, the embittered woman continued, “I’ve kicked him out so many times. He kept doing a lot of things. It was about fraud initially. He was continually defrauding people. That he had a wife that is a lawyer.

He defrauded many footballers, we saw him on TV. N2 million from them, from poor families. He threatened them with guns. And they’d be crying.I kept kicking him out of my house. It was few months after, about a year. That I first kicked him out.”

The pretty divorce who is spotted recently with her daughter and Grandson, narrated how she caught her ex-husband with her maid in bed.

“The first one was in my house red-handed. I was travelling, and he said he wanted to live in my house. That he would miss me.

I came back, accompanied by my friend. She was driving. I was looking for evidence. I told her that I was getting ready for divorce. When we came in and opened the door, I caught them naked.

The house girl is Igbo, and she ran. I called her came back. I spoke in Igbo. I told her that this man is shit. I cannot go back to him, that she should not worry. When the girl asked if I had forgiven her, I said yes. I said she should go back.

She said the cook had warned her to stop sleeping with John.

How can a man say his wife stole N1 million? He should be ashamed. He used to steal my money. I never asked him.

I told my friend to pick the maid’s trousers and slippers…They were all ashamed. My friend picked the items and ran.

John chased my friend and in the process, bashed my car. My friend kept running. I needed the evidence to go to court.

He later called my pastor. That he should calm me down. My pastor said I should forget about him. That I should leave him. That the trouble was too much.

He told my pastor that I should not go to court now. That I should allow the separation first. He went to pastor to ask him to beg that I should come back. My pastor can testify.”

Mu’azu dares Fayose, mocks gov over Buhari’s death wish

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, has responded to the threat of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State to release evidence of Mu'azu's "underhand dealings" with the All Progressives Congress.

The PDP National Chairman had faulted the calls of some PDP leaders on him and other members of the National Working Committee of the party to resign, following the heavy defeat suffered by the party in the recent general elections, especially its loss in the presidential poll.

Fayose, one of those pushing for the resignation of Mu'azu, had threatened that he would release incriminating evidence of the national chairman's secret support for the APC, if Mu'azu pushed further his defence.

On his twitter handle on Thursday, Mu'azu, who is said to be outside the country, mocked the controversial governor, wondering if the Ekiti governor's "evidence" would not be like his "evidence" during the presidential campaign, when Fayose said he was sure that the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was dying in a London hospital.

He said, "We challenge Governor Fayose to come out with the evidence that shows National Chairman worked for APC during the elections.

"We hope it's not the kind of evidence he once said he had that Buhari was dying."

Violence in Burundi leaves one dead as country protests president's 3rd term bid

Burundi's president Pierre Nkurunziza is running for a third term which he promises will be his last but citizens don't want to hear any of it. There have been demonstrations in the country for almost 2 weeks now, but it turned deadly this morning after one person was shot dead by police and 3 others seriously injured. The police reportedly used live ammunition to disperse protesters, killing one. 13 people have so far died since April 26th, the day demonstrations began following Pres. Nkurunziza announcement that he would seek re-election.

The fight is happening in Burundi's capital Bujumbura between the president's supporters and people who want him out. Many protesters have also been arrested and are being held by government forces.

Burundi's constitutional court on Tuesday May 5th ruled that the president can run for a third term if he wants, that he wasn't violating the constitution's two-term limit, saying "renewal of the presidential term through direct universal suffrage" is permitted. This didn't go down well with the opponents who say it violates their constitution.

Burundi's election will hold on June 26th and citizens say they want another president.

Over 25,000 Burundians have fled the country to neigbouring countries following the violent protests. They say they are afraid there might be another civil war in the country. The last one ended in 2006 after 13 years.

Jimi Agbaje will never be governor - Akiolu maintains

Oba Akiolu who first stated this in April while making his controversial speech to Igbo leaders, said he still maintains his position that Mr Agbaje will not be governor of the state. Oba Akiolu said this while speaking at the public policy lecture organized by the Institute of Directors, IoD and launch of the book "The Example: The Era of Babatunde Raji Fashola as Governor of Lagos State,’ in Lagos yesterday, May 6th.

"On May 14, 2014 when I first told all residents of Lagos that the next governor of the state will be Ambode, many didn’t believe me. I knew all the waters that have passed under the bridge, including my own blood relations, who without consulting me went with others to say that Bola Tinubu, Fashola and Oba Akiolu have pocketed Lagos, saying that this time, they will not allow that. And I told them that Jimi (Agbaje) will never be the governor. I still maintain it. There is no going back. I have no doubt in my mind, with the cooperation and prayers of everyone, Ambode will perform very well. I told many people that Bola Tinubu planted the seed, Fashola came and watered the seed and it started germinating in geometrical progressions. We have just started" Oba Akiolu said

I’M NOT TRYING TO BE A WOMAN—DENRELE

Controversial television star, Denrele Edun, has cleared the air on his ‘confusing’ personality. He also spoke on the speculations that he is trying to look like a woman.

Denrele stated that he is more comfortable with his style of life than what people want him to be.

He said, “If I was trying to be a lady, I am deceiving my conscience, and living a lie. I am just comfortable with the person I am. I am comfortable with my identity I have built over the years. I am comfortable with the brand that is selling my market.”

“I was a bit confused about my identity while growing up. Everyday, people would ask me if I was a girl or a boy. Even at the university, most time, I open my chest and tell them I will open my trouser too if they can open theirs. We will just end up laughing about it. I like who I am, I can’t give up Denrele for anything,” he also told Encomium magazine.

Diplomatic row brews as Dubai banks close Nigerian politicians, others accounts

A fresh UAE-Nigeria diplomatic row is brewing as Dubai banks are closing bank accounts of Nigerian politicians, students and business operators.

Thousands of Nigerians with bank accounts in Dubai have received notices that their bank accounts have been closed, without explanation. Some say the banks are trying to eliminate risk, but a source in the United Arab Emirates, Ministry of Finance said that the policy is to prevent money laundering, especially from Nigerian politicians hiding under the pretext of paying school fees for their children to smuggle millions of dollars into the country.

It was gathered this morning from a top official of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, DFSA, that the move is a fallout of the country's new Central Bank Laws prohibiting Nigerians not working in the UAE from possessing accounts in any local or foreign banks.

With the new monetary laws by the Emirate apex bank, all accounts of Nigerians that are not linked to work in the UAE have been closed and cheques issued in favour of the customers cashable in five working days.

Investigations revealed that politicians who have stashed away huge sums of money in Dubai and other locations in the UAE are already panicking over the fate of their money and are moving to safeguard their finances.

"It's going to be a huge scandal for politicians and businessmen who go to Dubai to hide their money. And if really they are closing non salary accounts of Nigerians in Dubai, we are going to see ‎something we have never seen before, scandals," a top government source said.

Politicians with huge sums of money in Dubai are mounting pressure on the federal government to intervene and prevent a breakdown of diplomatic ties between both countries.

WHY YINKA AYEFELE, SAMMIE OKPOSO DON’T SEE EYE-TO-EYE

The recently concluded 2015 general elections revealed some things about Nigerians. In fact, because of politics, friends of many years became enemies.

While some folks pitched their tents with the PDP and its presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, others were with the APC and its candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Entertainers were also not left out and most of them who aligned themselves with the two different candidates were on each other.

But one interesting that occurred was between two top gospel acts in Nigeria, Yinka Ayefele and Sammie Okposo, who were supporting the same candidate, President Jonathan.

An incident happened in Abuja, which have now made them not to see eye-to-eye again.

Their bitter rivalry started on November 11, 2014, during President Goodluck Jonathan’s declaration ceremony at the Eagles Square, Abuja where both musicians were billed to perform until the duo displayed a show of shame in presence of the large crowd present at the rally.

It was reported that the ugly scene played itself out when some of Jonathan’s aides had already informed Ayefele of the president’s choice of song, which the singer quickly rehearsed with his band boys backstage but unknown to him, Okposo had also got wind of the development.

When Ayefele was called to perform for the President before his speech, then the clash of the titans ensued as both singers began to play same song and to quell the embarrassment, some PDP chieftains at the function told the two singers to stop singing and allow the President make his speech.

Since the ugly incident, Ayefele and Okposo have reportedly not greeted each other when they meet at events.

NIGERIAN ARTISTES ARE SPENDING THEIR MONEY RECKLESSLY -DEDE MABIAKU

One of Nigeria’s reality TV show’s judge and Afro-beat singer, Dede Mabiaku who has been long seen performed new songs, has hinted that it is not about his career, but about making an impact within the system.

Dede stated that many people have tolled his part but are nowhere to be found. He explained that he is not into music for the money but there for the art and to help guide others in the right part.

According to him, “Check out those who have come through where I am standing today. In every twist and turn, Dede has been there to support mentally, psychologically, artistically and, most of all, to help guide them through their path properly. I am in the arts for arts sake. There are many people who are in the arts for money sake; I am not. I am a total artist.”

Analysing the Nigerian music industry, the singer stated that the industry has evolved overtime but pointed that those with the mentality of making money are making the money and spending it carelessly.

“In many ways, I will say yes and in many ways, no. In terms of returns and stipends, those who are in it for money are making money but are spending it carelessly. But when talking about arts and its development, a society needs to realise that what makes your art worth the while is the essence of craftsmanship and musicianship that is imbibed into its system. Nigeria is suffering from dearth of craftsmen in the entire arts sphere. We have very few skilled musicians, because music is no longer in the school curriculum again,” he told tribune.

NDLEA official held for allegedly importing 2.7kg cocaine

An official with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) was Thursday arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged trafficking of cocaine.

The accused, Adeogun Ogunyemi was brought before Justice Saliu Saidu, alongside one Adams Micheal a.k.a. Chidi by the NDLEA.

They were alleged to have conspired among themselves to import 2.692 kilograms of the banned substance into the country between January and March.

The court heard that the accused persons committed the offence at the International Mail Processing Centre, NACHO, International Airport, Ikeja.

They were arraigned on a four count charge, bordering on drug trafficking punishable under Sections 14(b) and 11(a) of the NDLEA Act.

However, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges against them, prompting the NDLEA to plead that the duo be remanded in its custody pending the completion of investigation.

His prayer was objected to by the defense counsel, Chief Benson, who told the court that the duo have been detained since March.

After listening to the parties, Justice Saidu in a bench ruling ordered that the accused persons be remanded in NDLEA custody for seven days and adjourned the matter to May 14.

Governors should be blamed for unpaid salaries – Okonjo-Iweala

The Federal Government on Wednesday absolved itself of blame in the inability of some state governments to pay their workers’ salaries.

It said the governors of such states should be blamed for the development in their states because they were told through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee to make the issue of wage a priority.

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said this in a statement by her Special Adviser on Communications,   Paul Nwabuikwu.

The statement was necessitated by the All Progressives Congress governors’ claim that the negative manner the outgoing Goodluck Jonathan administration was running the economy had made it difficult for them to pay salaries regularly.

But Okonjo-Iweala said that despite the 50 per cent drop in gross federally collectible revenue, the Federal Government had made the issue of workers’ salaries a top priority in order to ensure that the “people do not feel the negative impact of the revenue drop on the economy.”

For instance, the minister said that contrary to the “misinformation being put forward by certain governors to the effect that federal workers are being owed, staff salaries at the Federal level are up-to-date.”

She said in the five paragraph statement that the states, being one of the three tiers of government that receive monthly allocations from the Federation Account, should be blamed for their predicament.

The statement read, “This is to clarify the misinformation put forward by certain governors to the effect that Federal workers are being owed salaries.

“This is incorrect. Staff salaries at the Federal level are up-to-date; workers have received their April salaries.

“Regarding difficulties in salary payments, certain governors are trying to blame the Federal Government for their predicament. This is wrong. They had been told through the FAAC to prioritise salaries but they chose not to do so, hence the backlog that some states are experiencing.

“The 50 per cent drop in revenues simply means that salaries should be prioritised.   The Federal Government should not be blamed for avoidable mistakes made at the state level.”

The APC governors   had during a meeting with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, in Abuja on Tuesday, expressed frustrations about their inability to pay workers’ salaries.

They therefore appealed to Buhari to consider a bailout plan for all the 36 state governments after his inauguration on May 29.

They said, “One of the issues that became of concern to all of us is the state of the Nigerian economy which is really in a bad shape.

“We have come to notify the incoming president of the challenges ahead of him. As it stands today, most states of the federation have not been able to pay salaries and even the Federal Government has not paid April salaries and that is very worrisome, by May and June, that (salaries) will be in cumulative of three months.

“We wonder with the huge expectation of Nigerians and people who have voted us into power, we are hoping that the president-elect will do everything humanly possible to bring about a bailout not only for the states but the Federal Government, at least for people to get their salaries and turn around the economy.”

The Nigeria Labour Congress had on April 28, insisted that state governors must pay outstanding salaries before the May 29 handover date.

The factional Deputy President of the NLC,   Peters Adeyemi, said   at the ninth National Delegates conference of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria in Abuja, that workers had commenced the campaign to prevail on the governors to pay outstanding salaries before   May 29.

Meanwhile, the Taroh community of Kadarko in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State has accused the Special Task Force on security in Jos and the 3rd Armored Division of the Nigeria Army of carrying out genocide against them.

The community members, through their socio-cultural and political group, Ngwang Ishi Otarok, alleged that the military was out to annihilate them.

They claimed that soldiers invaded Taroh communities of Kadarko, Mutum Biyu, Wadatan Arewa and Wadatan Kasuwa, all in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, following an alleged killing of six soldiers by unidentified militiamen.

In the reprisal that ensued, the soldiers were alleged to have killed 39 people and injured more than 150 others.

The soldiers were also said to have razed down many buildings and farms, destroying livestock worth millions of naira in the process.

While addressing newsmen in Jos on Wednesday, the NIO described the raid as unprecedented.

The Chairman of the group, Mr. Lohbut Jangle, and Secretary, Mr. Zingfa Danbaki, who signed the text of the briefing, said military vehicles conveyed armed men to Wase town. They said the soldiers, who were mobilised by the 3rd Armored Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, unleashed mayhem on the people.

In the statement entitled, “Planned genocide against the Tarok race by the Nigerian Army and the Plateau State government,” the groupd said their people had suffered attacks for two consecutive days for no just cause.

They further alleged, “A notable trend in this unbridled, callous, unwholesome impunity is the scenario where even the police and the civil defence officials on duty were shot, killed and burnt at their duty posts.”

Footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor Comes For His Family on Facebook

You all need to read this interesting Story. Former African Footballer of the Year, Emmanuel Adebayor who has been having Family issues for years came for his family on his Facebook page.

The Tottemham striker took to his Facebook yesterday to give a lengthy insight into his complicated personal life. He listed the things he’s done for his family and basically accused them of using him for his money, stealing from him and being ungrateful. Read Below:

I have kept these stories for a long time but I think today it is worth sharing some of them with you. It’s true that family matters should be solved internally and not in public but I am doing this so that hopefully all families can learn from what happened in mine. Also keep in mind that none of this is about money.

At the age of 17, with my first wages as a footballer, I built a house for my family and made sure they are safe. As you all know, I have received the trophy of African Player of the Year in 2008. I also brought my mother on stage with me to thank her for everything.

In that same year, I brought her to London for various medical check ups. When my daughter was born, we contacted my mum to inform her but she immediately hung up the phone and didn’t wanna know hear about it. Reading your recent comments, some people said my family and I should consult T.B Joshua.

In 2013, I gave my mother money so she could consult him in Nigeria. She was supposed to stay for 1 week; but 2 days into her stay, I received a call saying she left. Apart from all that l also gave my mother a great amount of money to start a business of cookies and different items. Naturally, I allowed them to put my name and picture on them so they can sell more. What else can a son do in his power to support his family?

A couple years ago, I bought a house in East Lagon (Ghana) for $1.2 million. I found it normal to let my older sister, Yabo Adebayor stay in that house. I also allowed my half brother (Daniel) to stay in the same house. A few months later, I was on vacation and decided to go to that house.

At my surprise, I saw many cars in the driveway. In fact, my sister decided to rent out the house without me knowing. She also kicked Daniel out of that house. Note that the house had about 15 rooms. When I called her and asked for explanation, she took about 30 minutes to abuse and insult me over the phone. I called my mother to explain the situation and she did the same as my sister. This same sister says I am ungrateful. Ask her about the car she is driving or anything she is selling today?

My brother Kola Adebayor, has now been in Germany for 25 years. He travelled back home about 4 times, at my expense. I fully cover the cost of his children’s education. When I was in Monaco, he came to me and asked for money to start a business. Only God knows how much I gave him. Where is that business today?

When our brother Peter passed away, I sent Kola a great amount of money so he could fly back home. He never showed up at the burial. And today that same brother (Kola) is telling people that I am involved in Peter’s death. How? He is the same brother who went and told inaccurate stories about our family to “The Sun” in other to take some money. They also sent a letter to my Club when I was in Madrid so I could get fired.

When I was in Monaco I thought it would be good to have a family of footballers. So I made sure my brother Rotimi gets into a football academy in France. Within a few months; out of 27 players, he stole 21 phones.
I would not say any anything about my brother Peter Adebayor because he is not here today. May his soul rest in peace.

My sister Lucia Adebayor keeps telling people that my dad told me to bring her to Europe. But what would be the purpose to bring her to Europe? Everyone is here for a reason.

I was in Ghana when I received the news about my brother Peter being seriously ill. I drove the fastest I could to Togo in order to meet him and help. When I arrived, my mother said I could not see him and I should just give the money and she would solve everything. Only God knows how much I gave her that day. People are saying I didn’t do anything to save my brother, Peter. Am I a fool to drive 2 hours to Togo for nothing?

I organized a meeting in 2005 to solve our family issues. When I asked them about their opinion, they said I should build each family member a house and give each of them a monthly wage.

Today I am still alive and they have already shared all my goods, just in case I die.
For all these reasons, it took very long for me to set up my foundation in Africa. Every time I try to help the people in need, they had to question me and all of them thought it was a bad idea.

If I am writing this, the main purpose is not to expose my family members. I just want other African families to learn from this.

Thank you.

We won't fail Nigerians -Buhari

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, reassured Nigerians that the incoming government of All Progressives Congress, APC, will not fail them.

Buhari, who hosted a delegation from Taraba State, also said by the end of his tenure in 2019, Nigerians would be confident of a society where elections would be free, fair and credible. Also, to underscore his inclination to the rule of law, the President-elect directed security personnel attached to his convoy to always heed traffic regulations and stop at red lights.

The President-elect also said the advent of the technology of card reader and the will of the Nigerians have redefined the electoral system in Nigerian.

He said: “I think that 2015 will go down in Nigeria political history as a glorious year. Nigerians have deliberately understood what is multi party democracy. But we thank God for technology, PVC and card reader and the insistence of constituencies to make sure they are used.

“However, in two political zones where they were subverted, the people wanted to vote, but they were not allowed to vote and they continued with what they used to do in their party offices or their sitting rooms, where they would write the results, go to radio house and television house and announce the result and say whoever does not accept the result should go to court.

“How many people can go to court when they are struggling to get the next day’s meal? Where will they get the millions to give to those Senior Advocates of Nigeria. I was able to do it because of the goodwill of Nigeria which again demonstrated itself this year.

“People agreed that I am not a very rich man, but I was lucky that Nigerians believe in me and they put their strength together, voted and made sure that their votes count. I say thanks to the technology. Please continue to support those among you that you feel will go and work for your state and for the country. I assure you that the government of the APC, when eventually put in place, will be a competent Nigerian government.

“We will never betray the people because they have risked everything. Some even lost their lives in this course to make sure that APC succeed and that we have a leadership in place that they can trust and that is what multi party democracy is all about.”

He further stated: “I will tell you what made me a multi party democrat. In 1991, after coming out of detention, I was sitting at home and the Soviet Union collapsed.

They were the world power fighting the western world. They had more sophisticated weapons, but something happened. “There was confusion and everybody went away. Today, there are 18 countries from the former Soviet Union. That was when I believed that multi party democratic system is a superior form of governance and that is why I joined democracy.

“We have made a big stride this year and I assure you, God willing, if we survive the next four years, Nigerians will be in a position to confidently raise their head and elect their representatives and leaders. “They will choose those they want as their representatives from local government, states and to the centre.

I will fight for free, fair and credible election because that is why I remain in politics. I thank you very much for the sacrifices you have made to make sure we succeeded.”

In regards to ther rule of law, Buhari has directed security personnel attached to his convoy to always heed traffic regulations and stop at red lights at traffic points.
“Without leadership by example, the ordinary citizens would become copycats of the lawlessness of their leaders,” Buhari was quoted as saying in a statement issued by his media office last night.

The President-elect, who currently stops at every traffic light, promised to continue with the tradition as president as a way of demystifying the arrogance in power. Buhari was further quoted as saying that the “arrogance of power, lawlessness and disregard for the rights and convenience of fellow citizens would have no place in his government.”

The statement quoted Buhari as saying that for leaders to inspire respect, they must obey the laws of the country, adding that when leaders treat the country’s laws with contempt, they send the wrong message to the citizens. Buhari lamented a situation where fellow citizens are punished at traffic points and public roads because of the “arrogant lawlessness of the leaders.”

Susan Maxwell Speaks On Why She Bleached Her Skin.

Yoruba Nollywood Actress, Susan Maxwell has come out to speak on why she bleached her skin colour and also why most Nigerian women are doing the same.

Speaking to The Nation, she revealed, “Many people are of the opinion that light-skinned ladies are more attractive, and everything they wear shows off better and that is why I am here to help people enhance their complexion. I used to be very dark; I never thought I could become as fair as I am. I did it because I want to practice what I preach. I want them to see me and be blown away, especially those who knew me when I was dark. Because what I’m giving people isn’t something that would damage their skin but repair their skin, I use it on myself as well. If I wasn’t in this line of business, I probably wouldn’t have toned my skin at all. I don’t call it bleaching. I call it skin restoration.

Most of my clients are above 18, and if they want to be white, I give them what they want. Black is beautiful, but I have no qualms with enhancing your complexion. 80% of Nigerian men want their women to be fair. They want a lady that draws attention to them. I’ve worked with many married women who complain of their men staring at fair women and they say to me, “Susan, make me fair, I want to be attractive to my man!”

According to the 63 year old actor, he has lived with these habits since his youthful days and it will be difficult for him to just do away with them

“I have not out-rightly stopped but I have slowed down. I don’t know how to tell lies. I still smoke and drink. I still find time to sleep with women. But the truth is that I am not doing all these things as before. And the fact still remains that I am not properly married” he told Encomium magazine

When Asked if he was taking any precautions to curtail his habits, the actor said;

Dumb Robber arrested After Returning To Complain That The Gold He Stole Was Fake

A dumb criminal, Daniel Sion Palmer, who attacked and dispossessed a tourist of his valuables has been arrested after he went back to complain that the gold chain he stole was fake.

According to South Beach Police, Palmer allegedly pointed a gun at a tourist from New York, grabbed his gold chain and took off but apparently not satisfied with his newly stolen jewels, he went back to his victim just to say that the necklace was a fake.

When the officer attempted to stop him, Palmer sped away but after a short police chase, he was arrested.

Palmer has been charged with armed robbery, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, police said.

Buhari shouldn’t consider reversing power sector privatisation – Minister

Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, will be ”ill-advised” to reverse the power industry privatisation, Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo, said on Wednesday.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Mr. Nebo said the gains of the privatisation were very obvious and any attempt to reverse it will take Nigerians many decades back.

“I think the incoming government will be ill-advised to reverse privatisation and liberalisation of power generation, transmission and distribution because any attempt to do that would be to set Nigeria back many many many decades,” the minister said.

“The gains of privatisation are very obvious. If we can solve the problem of gas like we are talking about energy mix, we are not just going by gas we are doing hydros. It was this same administration that flagged off Zungeru hydro power plants for 750 megawatts, and is a bid to flag off mambilla 3,050 megawatts, Shiroro has been improved, revamped, Kanji revamped and improved, the same as Jebba.

“So there is a lot of work being done by the government. However to turn back on privatization would mean stopping all of these companies and then reversing the massive inflow of investments coming into the power sector. Nigeria’s power consumption per capita is one of the lowest in the world and that is part of the efforts of government to reverse that. So I don’t think it is in the best interest of the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved a new draft National Policy on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, NPREEE.
