Some Nigerians living in South Africa have commended the Nigeria Football Federation for unveiling, Sunday Oliseh, as new Super Eagles coach.
The President of the Nigerian Union, South Africa, Ikechukwu Anyene, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Pretoria, South Africa, on Thursday that Oliseh's choice was a welcome development.
“ Nigerians in South Africa are happy with the choice of Sunday Oliseh as the new Super Eagles coach.
“As a former player, he has seen it all and has the experience to lead the Eagles to greater heights.
“I believe Oliseh will bring a new lease of life to the national team,’’ he said.
Adetola Olubajo, Secretary of the Nigeria Union, South Africa, said Oliseh had the potential to revive the fortunes of the Super Eagles.
“Oliseh has played for big clubs in Europe and given the fact that he attended several coaching courses, I think he will do well.
“I also wish to commend the NFF for unveiling him so that he can go to work.
“The Super Eagles have so many assignments waiting for them and I do not think that time is on their side.
“Nigerians living in South Africa want to see the Eagles back to winning ways. Nigeria is blessed with abundant football stars.
“ This is the time to harness these talents and use them,’’ he said.
Henry Umogbai, Secretary, Nigeria Union, Gauteng Province of South Africa, said unveiling of Oliseh was a step in the right direction.
Umogbai said Oliseh had the experience to build a formidable team given abundant talents in the country.
He urged the NFF to give the new Eagles coach the necessary support to accomplish the task ahead.
Emeka Ezinteje, a Nigerian businessman based in Johannesburg, said that the unveiling of Oliseh showed the determination of the NFF to get the Eagles back to business.
“ Nigerians want the Eagles to conquer Africa as they did in the past. I believe that Oliseh has the capacity and potential to form a winning team in his new role as the coach of the team,’’ he said.
Ezinteje urged Nigerians to support the new coach to achieve good results with the Eagles to put smiles on the faces of football fans in the country.
Vincent Onyema, President, Abia Progressives Union in South Africa, also praised the unveiling of Oliseh, and urged the new coach to use players who were fit for matches.
Onyema said that frequent clashes between the NFF and former coach Keshi did not help the national team.
“ Nigerians in South Africa want to see a brand new Super Eagles. We hope that Oliseh`s appointment and unveiling will bring a new football culture in the country.
“We pray for him to succeed and take Nigerian football to greater heights,’’ he said.
