Former Benue Governor To Be Jailed In UK For Battering His Wife Over Mistress

Former Benue state governor Gabriel Suswam has been arrested by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom for allegedly battering his wife.

After his arrest, the Metropolitan Police Domestic Violence Office immediately booked him into its London detention centre, where he was to remain in detention. The resident judge at the time however set a £5,000 (N1.5 m) bail bound for him before he was released.

He got arrested when his wife, Yemisi placed an emergency call to the police from their house in London to report that the e- governor had physically assaulted her.

She explained to the police that during a minor argument in which she confronted her husband’s questionable relationship with possible mistress ‘Shidoo’, Suswam battered her and thus made her to run for her life.

Buhari appoints Daura as DSS boss

President Muhamadu Buhari on Thursday appointed Mr. Lawal Musa Daura as the new Director-General of the Department of State Security Service.

He is to take over from Ita Ekpenyong, the outgoing DG.

The announcement was made in a terse statement issued by the Director Communications in the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Haruna Imrana, on behalf of the HoS, Mr. Danladi Kifasi.

The statement said Lawal Musa Daura was born in Daura on August 5, 1953, but was not specific whether it was same Daura in Katsina State and hometown of President Buhari.

The new DSS DG, who attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1977 – 1980, started his career in the State Security Service in 1982 and rose to the rank of Director.

He was at one time the Deputy Director, Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre, at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007.

Daura also served as the State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States.

He attended various professional courses both home and abroad including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

Death has forgotten me - 179-year-old man cries out

An Indian man Mahashta Mûrasi  who claims to be born in 1835 is not only the oldest man in the world but also the man who lived the longest since the history of mankind (according to the Guinness World Records ).

According to the information transmitted, the man was born in Bangalore on January 6  1835. He lived in Varanasi, where he worked until 1957, until his retirement after 122 years.

According to WorldNewsDailyReport, all official documents to identify this man support his version.

My grandchildren have died a few years, “said Mûrasi.” In a way, death has forgotten me. And now I have lost all hope to die," he said

Borno Gov eats with N10 Million daily despite financial crisis in the state

Former Miss Nigeria, Rita Anuku is dead

The family of Rita Anuku, the 1986 Miss Nigerian has released a statement that the beauty queen passed away yesterday, July 2nd at an undisclosed Abuja hospital.

According to a family source, the beauty queen has been battling with cancer for the past two years and gave up the ghost.

Late Rita Anuku was a first cousin of Hon. David Anuku, former commissioner of Special Duties in Delta State and younger sister of Nollywood actor, Hank Anuku. She is survived by four children, three girls and a boy.

Twenty five years ago she was sensationally crowned as Nigeria’s queen of beauty as an 18-year old secondary school leaver. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

Google came under fire after photos app tags two black people as gorillas

Google came under fire this week after its new Photos app categorized photos in one of the most racist ways possible.

On June 28th, computer programmer Jacky Alciné found that the feature kept tagging pictures of him and his girlfriend as "gorillas." He tweeted at Google asking what kind of sample images the company had used that would allow such a terrible mistake to happen.

Google’s chief social architect Yonatan Zunger responded quickly, apologizing for the feature.

As part of the new Photos app, users’ photos can be tagged and arranged automatically based on objects in the photos.

For instance, pictures of skyscrapers are all arranged in an album appropriately labeled "skyscrapers." The tag feature learns as it receives more data, refining its method for recognizing and categorizing objects. The feature is flawed, but categorization isn’t the only step in photography that companies have had trouble with.

For years, Kodak used a coating on its film that favored Caucasian skin tones, making it more difficult to shoot darker skin. Nikon and other consumer camera companies have also had a history of showing bias to white faces with their facial recognition software. Zunger says that Google has had similar issues with facial recognition due to inadequate analysis of skin tones and lighting. "We used to have a problem with people (of all races) being tagged as dogs," Zunger says.

Google attempted to fix the algorithm, but ultimately removed the gorilla label altogether. Zunger noted that the company is working on longer-term fixes that revolve around which labels could be problematic and better recognition of dark-skinned faces.
