Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) today in the campus premises trooped out to mock the rituals performed by the ‘Osoro’ priests to mark the final burial rite for the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade II.
The students dressed in costumes that depict the Oro’s procession in a mockery of the dead king.
It would be recall that the death of the Ooni of Ife has generated lots of controversies ranging from whether the king had truly died before disagreement over the curfew in the town unfolded among the palace chiefs and the sudden disappearance of the ‘Abobaku’.
The Abobaku was reported to have ran away immediately the prestigious Oba was reported. Abobaku is a man that dies with the king.
But our correspondent in Ile-Ife gathered that the Abobaku popularly called Sarun, is in the palace, now counting his days to be buried ‘alive’.
